Photograph British heritage and tradition in Trafalgar Square- home of the world famous Landseer Lions, National Gallery, mermaid sculptures, elegant fountains and many fine statues and monuments. Capture street entertainers and pavement artists who create colorful chalk drawings for you to photograph and admire.
Walking at a leisurely pace you make your way to Leicester Square and photograph the gardens, the fountains and a great statue of William Shakespeare whose presence dominates the gardens. You take a short working break for refreshments (own expense) and to review progress. Then make your way to Chinatown, your expert photographer guides you to the best view points to photograph the colourful landscape of Chinatown. Marvel at colorful shop fronts full of exotic foods and delicacies. Be amazed by stalls crammed with colorful novelties and lanterns. You take your time to photograph the rich and authentic colors of Chinatown before making your way to Covent Garden. Explore the architecture of the Royal Opera House, quirky side streets and street entertainers before making your way to the extraordinary and colorful Neal’s Yard. At all times your personal photographer is there to guide and help you take outstanding photographs.

My wife Dee and I whole-heartedly recommend the guided photographic walking tour from Trafalgar Square to Covent Garden provided by Lou Smith. Her professional expertise, teaching style and personal traits are outstanding. My wife and I took advantage of her photographic knowledge and artistic insights while on a four hour tour with her this August 2017.
I had done black and white photography in the late 60s and early 70s including developing but had not spent any significant time in photography since then except for family and vacation slides. I missed the joy of getting that perfect shot and wanted to take up photography more seriously again. I recently had purchased a new digital camera with seemingly 100 menus. I read the manual but gained from it only a minimal knowledge of the cameras many features.
While planning a vacation to London, Dee came across an ad for Lous tour. I was excited with high expectations. We were not disappointed. Lou taught us so much: at the beginning of the tour, how to navigate the most important settings on our cameras, and then for more than three hours multiple ways to view the visual world. Finally, over a coffee she went over with us several of the photos we selected for her to review. She showed us different perspectives on the same object, real-time examples of the use of positive and negative space, and different ways to use and view color. She shared her thoughts about both landscapes as well as extreme close-ups. Her professional background both as a photographer and artist was obvious in all she said. When we take another trip to London, we definitely will try to book her tour again.

This was a fantastic tour that exceeded my expectations. My guide,Lou Smith, was very knowledgeable and good at explaining the best way to take a shot and some unusual places to get better angles. The tour was individualized to what I wanted to get out of it. During our snack break we reviewed all my shots and she made comments on what was working well and other options I might consider. We compared my shots to some of hers and how the different compositions worked. I will definitely take another photo tour when I am next in London.
