i have done this a number of times now with friends over the years and for the first time with my partner.You skip the queues and you pace yourself in the Palace.Before you get there with the aid of an excellent tour guide you get the best views and commentary on the changing of the guard at three vantage points.

Amber was amazing. Couldn’t ask for a better tour guide. Very knowledgeable and funny. She knew so much about the palace and surrounding area.

Be prepared to walk (and walk)! We must’ve walked 5 miles. Emma, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable about the history of London and the particular area we were in. We enjoyed ourselves. The only minus on the tour is that you don’t see the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, you see the changing of the horse guard at St. James Palace nearby which we didn’t expect. Granted, Buckingham Palace was extremely crowded, but we would’ve rather seen it from there. Fortunately we arrived at Buckingham in time to see the band march. We could’ve skipped the tour of the Buckngham Palace because it was shoulder to shoulder and quite hot inside. It is beautiful, however, and we were glad to have seen it after all, esp the throne room. We recommend this tour to everyone who loves horses, pageantry, and WALKING!

If you are not a fast walker this not the tour for you. The tour guide was very fast and hard to keep up with.

Obviously, Buckingham Palace and the Changing of the Guard are fascinating, but our guide made it even more interesting. She was very knowledgeable, answered all our questions, and was entertaining. The tour wa just the right length.We would recommend this tour to any friends or family visiting London.

One of the Highlights of our three week trip was this tour led by Rob. He gave us behind the scenes info along with an interesting and often humorous view of Royal history. For example, he showed us the Nazi German Embassy of the 1930's right next to the Duke of York Tower. Good spots along the way to watch the different guard units in action, although the actual switch was behind the gates and hard to see. No matter we saw lots of pomp and circumstance. Our group walked right in for the tour of the Buckingham Palace State Rooms. It was awesome! Buckingham Palace trumps Versailles and all the other palaces of Europe, in my book. Wow!

Watching the changing of the guards was amazing! Highly recommend doing this tour to see both the palace and the guard change and hear the history behind it. Our guide Jenny was amazing! Get her if you can.

To be fair, we were in London during the heat wave which probably effected our experience. Our guide was great and he worked his tail off to inform and entertain but this is really a queue up and wait hrs type of deal.

Had a lovely time getting professionally guided sound the changing of the guards. Pleasant, highly informative and much better than hanging on the fence for an hour. The exhibition was excellent and we enjoyed the audio guide and stunning artwork and rooms.

We had a great guide that brought us to all the perfect viewing angles! He was very informative and gave us a lot of background information and interesting facts. We got to ask him a lot of questions about the royal family, houses, etc. Buckingham Palace was awesome and they have a great gift shop on site! One of our favorite things we did!
