The Banqueting House is on the corner of Horse Guards Avenue and Whitehall immediately opposite Horse Guards Parade.
Nearest Tube Stations:
Westminster - turn right out of the station, first right into Whitehall and walk along until you come to the Banqueting House which is approximately half way up on the right hand side.

Fascinating history but make sure you get the audio guide. Bean bags on the floor let you relax and enjoy the beautiful art on the ceilings while listening to the narrator on the guide. Allow 1 hour. Enjoy!

Great and historical last remaining portion of Whitehall Palace. Audio Tour also helped in the understanding of the downfall of King Charles I. This knowledge helps in the understanding as you go through the other varied London Palaces an Castles. Go here early in your stay.

Brilliant experience- being there gives you a sense of history and occasion when the Hall was and is still used today for Royal and other events. I arranged our tickets for this on line and it was well worth the ticket price and experience. We found the initial introductory video very informative and a historical taster for what followed. The front reception and the shop gentlemen were welcoming and helpful with our questions. The tour of the main hall was made so brilliant because you are supplied with a hand held telephone like gadget with button press commentary sections which take you at your own pace through the history and explain what you are about to see and look closer at in stages. The centrally placed room mirrors allow you to see and photograph the ceiling paintings in more detail. But the addition of floor beanbags are just fab to relax and listen to the commentary and view and/or photograph the ceiling paintings.The ceiling of the Banqueting House is the only surviving painting still in it's original place by Rubens. One of Ruben's most famous its depicting 3 main themes of scenery. It was commissioned by King Charles Ist and was probably his last sights before he was beheaded on a scaffold outside the building in 1649.The canvasses were painted earlier by Rubens and installed in the hall in 1636. The three main canvasses depict The Union of the Crowns, The Apotheosis of James I and The Peaceful Reign of James I.Altogether a very informative visit and a real historical treat and one highlight from our London tours.

What a gem Banqueting House is. The ceiling is covered in paintings by Rubens. There are bean bags scattered around the hall so the visitor can look at the ceiling while listening to the audio accompaniment. Well worth a visit.

The Banqueting hall is beautiful but they did not have us on their lists and knew nothing about the pass for other sights. Thankfully we had our printout and were able to get in to the hall and Hampton Court without having to pay again.
