Meet your gracious hosts ─ a local foodie couple ─ in the charming seaside neighborhood of Antiguo, and then set off on a short stroll to their home. This area of Spain, known as the Basque Country, is famed for its culinary prowess and rich gastronomic scene.Step through the door and make your way to the kitchen where the cooking class will take place. With a maximum of just six participants, mingle with the other guests and pick the hosts’ brains on the various cooking techniques they use.While chatting about food and life in San Sebasti□n, watch the hosts in action and help out with the preparation to get a closer look at the fresh ingredients. Basque cuisine focuses on fresh, well-prepared dishes that are made using local, seasonal produce and prepared to enhance rather than mask the natural flavor of the food.
Receive hands-on instruction on various cooking methods and discover the secrets behind traditional recipes as you help to create two main dishes and a dessert. Dishes may change on occasion, but typically include time-honored Basque specialties such as porrusalda (a warming potato leek soup), marmitako (tuna fish and paprika soup), patatas a la Riojana (chorizo potato soup) or a toothsome tortilla de patatas (Spanish omelet).When the food is ready to be served, sit down and relax. Tuck into the hearty Basque fare and enjoy more conversation in the warm, relaxed ambience of a family home.
