    Meet your expert guide at the meeting point, then set off on foot to the UNESCO-listed Alhambra palace complex.

    As you approach, take in the postcard-perfect scene of the ornate palace, backed dramatically by the majestic foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Spend a few moments snapping photos of the impressive, rose-tinted faade, then head directly inside with your skip-the-line ticket.

    Follow your guide through the grand courtyards and opulent palatial buildings, and discover how the Alhambra is thought to have been constructed as a fortress in the 9th century before expanding into a medina (hilltop city).

    Wander along the walkways of Alcazaba Fortress, stopping occasionally to witness the spectacular views of Granada from its ancient walls. Marvel at the rich Moorish architecture and d□cor of the three Nasrid Palaces ─ Mexuar, Serello and Harem. Then, admire the contrasting Renaissance architecture of the Palace of Charles V before taking a peek at the Royal Baths.

    Then, head to the Generalife Gardens, where Moorish kings, sultans and emirs once relaxed. Let the calm wash over you as you stroll through the ‘gardens of paradise,’ admiring the beautiful courtyards, distinctive fountains and colorful flowerbeds.

    After around three hours, your tour concludes outside Alhambra, leaving you perfectly placed to continue sightseeing independently. Make use of your included hop-on hop-off tourist train ticket to travel between the city's sights quickly and easily. Your ticket is valid for a full day.

    If I was just rating the Alhambra Walking Tour, I would have given this a 5. Our guide, Juan, was interesting, funny, knowledgeable etc. Having a guided tour is more interesting than listening to an audio-guide yawn!. It was really an enjoyable experience and well worth it. HOWEVER, the issue was after the walking tour. We asked the tour coordinator about the hop-on/hop-off train. He said that we just needed the sticker that they had put on our shirts to get on the train. I also had the tickets on my phone that clearly stated either a paper or electronic ticket was acceptable. So, following the walking tour, we tried to get on the train and were told by the frustrated young lady in charge that 1 the sticker wouldn't get us on the train and 2 neither would our electronic tickets. I showed her where it stated that an electronic version was acceptable right on the ticket! but she told me that I needed to print it out. She told me I would need to e-mail her boss which I did, however rather than standing there and arguing with her and ruining our nice day in Granada, we just left. I sent an e-mail when I got back to our hotel and I never heard anything from them. That was almost two weeks ago - I doubt I will ever hear anything from them.
