Make your way to the meeting point in central Barcelona and hop in the air-conditioned minivan for the 55-mile (90-km) drive to Cardona. Learn about the history and culture of the area from the guide as you set out on a 5.5-hour tour.
The first stop is Salt Mountain Cultural Park, once one of the most important salt mines in the world. Visit the on-site museum and then enter a 280-foot-deep (86-m) salt mine shaft. Learn about the geology and history of the mine on the guided tour.The next stop is a private tour of bewitching Cardona Castle, a massive medieval castle complex that has seen many bloody battles in the millennium that it has been in existence. Fans of Orson Welles might recognize the castle from the film Chimes at Midnight. View the 11th-century Torre de la Minyona (Minyona Tower) and the Romanesque church of Sant Vicen .Afterward, indulge in local treats including cava, the sparkling white wine made in the region, and some piedras de la resistencia, a sweet snack that is a reminder of Cardona’s role in the War of Spanish Succession ─ the name means ‘stones of the resistance.’ Then settle back for the return to Barcelona, with drop-off at the departure point.行程概要出發地點

This was a fabulous tour. the local guide We Barcelona was very attentive, friendly, and accommodating. The local guide arranged a private tour just my husband and I of the salt mines and castle. At the end of the Salt mine tour we were treated to local snack and cava after which we were driven to the castle and again given a very personalized tour. The guide was also very accommodating to stop at a local town on the return route for a local lunch, which we were more than happy to share with him. This tour is worth every penny and more.

this was an amazing tour, we strongly recommend anyone travelling to Barcelona make time to visit this Salt Mine. The mine itself has so much natural beauty we wee totally blown away with it.

This was the surprise tour of our trip! The salt mines are fascinating and amazingly beautiful, well worth the trip. Our tour guide was excellent as well, full of facts and information about both the mines and the castle.
Trip included a bottle of Cava and some snacks after the mine. If you want something a little different this is a tour for you !!
