The basilica of Santa Maria del Mar in Barcelona, also known as the "cathedral of La Ribera", is one of the most perfect examples of Gothic style architecture due to its harmonious proportions and the serenity of the ensemble.
In the Middle Ages, the long periods of time it took to build a church often more than a century usually involved changes in architectural style. Santa Maria del Mar in Barcelona is an exception. It was built in just 55 years, from 1329 to 1384, and is the only surviving church in the pure Catalan Gothic style. Its structure comprises three naves of the same height, underpinned by very tall columns set 13 metres apart, a distance unsurpassed by any other existing medieval building. This gives the impression of sublime width, height and airiness, as if gravity had been reversed and pulled the immense blocks of stone upwards. The many stained-glass windows of the church of Santa Maria del Mar play an important role in giving this impression

Meeting place not easy to find but once we did it was great. We were the only ones and although we had already seen some of the sites on another tour, we really enjoyed the one on one. Great gelato, chocolates and fantastic guide. Wish we hadn't done the other tour....This was far appetite!

We were told when we turned up that the regular tour guide was not well that day and a replacement tour guide will conduct the tour. We sensed that the replacement tour guide did her best. I cannot say for certain tha quality of the regular tour I hope the regular tour guide have recovered and is well now.

Couldnt have been better. Guide Gabi was personable and knowledgable not only about chocolate but also Barcelona. Only two other people in group. If you book a morning tour, be prepared to eat chocolate before lunch. Would like to try other tours from same organization.

The guide was good but the choices could have been a bit better. The samples were not very large. We could have done our own tour. The chocolate and pastry shops are plentiful with amazing window displays.

It was three people on our tour plus our guide. The guide was very knowledgeable, having studied a lot of the history and culture surrounding the food we were eating and the locations visited. All the samples would have equaled the cost of the tour, if not come out ahead, so it was a true bargain to not only get the samples but also have a local lead you around the city and answer questions. Fairly easy to find location, it's a glass-front building and you might have to knock if you're there too early.

Tour guide was amazing. She tailored the tour to our interests, knew about the chocolate, knew about the city, and knew the people at the locations we visited. We not only tasted some wonderful chocolate, but we also learned a lot about Barcelona. Can't recommend it highly enough!

Worth it if you have don't do any other tours (otherwise its a bit of a repeat). Cake at the end if the tour is amazing!

Very much enjoyed this tour..it was definitely worth it. It was only my daughter and I in the tour, so basically a personalized tour through El Born, El Gotic and Les Corts districts, visiting small streets, learning about history and anecdotes. Our tour guide Nico was great too! The samplings were actually a bit too much, but I got to take it with me!

Sebastian my tour guide was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and personable. This tour was a great way to enjoy great sweets and learn the history of the neighborhoods. I only wish I would have bought more chocolates.

We had a small group 3 of us for our tour. Our guide, Paula, was massively enthusiastic and warm in greeting us.
She began by asking us a few questions about what we liked and what we wanted from the tour, and geared the places she'd show us around that.
I booked this tour for my first full day in Barcelona, hoping it would give me a good introduction to the city and help me find my bearings - from the starting location just off of Las Rambla we went through the Gothic Quarter then ended in El Born.
I really enjoyed the tour. Paula was fantastically knowledgable and a great, passionate person to be with for the few hours.
There wasn't as much chocolate tasting as I'd hoped by all in all, I had a good time and thought it was worth the money.
