A relaxing boat ride will take you to this path of great beauty where you will first visit the ruins of Pompeii (entrance fee own expense), witnessing the fury of the volcano, and then look down into the crater and admire the view from Mount Vesuvius, a suggestive view that has lasted for more than a thousand years.
Pick-up from your hotel and transfer to the port of Sorrento, boarding and departure for the port of Castellammare di Stabia.Transfer by bus to Pompeii and visit of the ruins with the assistance of a licensed guide.Then departure for Mount Vesuvius to visit the crater with the help of a guide. Transfer back from Vesuvius by bus to Castellammare di Stabia and return by boat to Sorrento and then back to your hotel.

Pompeii was amazing. Our Tour guide MICHEAL was amazing and very knowledgeable. It was very hot climbing up Mt Vesuvius. Neat to do once. Ride up was fun.

Enjoyed the day very much except when we got to top of Mt Vesuvius did not find our guide by crater as instructed and so busy had no idea what her name was we could have asked but people everywhere, maybe needs to be well explained however great day out

I recommend this tour only because Pompeii and Vesuvius are worth it. Pick up from the hotel was confusing. Guide on the boat and bus was very difficult to understand. The Pompeii tour did not use any listening devices and the guide was very difficult to keep up with and understand. The boat ride across the bay to the bus was way too crowded. A couple of folks had to sit on a ice chest. Organization was not great but sites were incredible.

Fantastic day... By boat is the best way to go yo see Sorrento from a different perspective. Take good walking shoes. The trek to the top is not a stroll but worth every step!

Got picked up at hotel then got on a small boat called micky mouse. We were given a bottle of hot water on one of the hottest days. We could not hear anything the guild was saying on the boat as she didn't have a Mike. Then onto a coach where she gave us another warm bottle of bottle and one roll. That's it. We we're told not to eat on the coach but wait till we get into Pompeii. The guild told everyone to leave there bags on the coach but then took her bag. When we got into Pompeii we had to walk whie creating and drinking and trying to catch up with the guild. You are not allowed to buy and gifts as they don't give you any time . The guild is rude. Every time you said you could not hear her at the back she said something in Italian to the staff who looked at you and laughed.
A couple of people were ill from the heat. We had 1and half hours in Pompeii and didn't see much. Then they went to Vesuvius. If you could not do the walk you could stay at a hotel bar for 2 hours
A must for everyone please take food with you and eat on the coach or you will have nothing all day. We are going Back to Pompeii by train from sorrento on our own costing 3 Euro each. And spending all day there. There restaurant outside Pompeii and train station next door -
Great little excursion to see the sights of Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius. Well worth the money, including the informative Travel guides in and around Pompeii.
Would have been better on a coach with AirCon though. -
The tour of Pompeii was defiantly worth doing but costs an extra 12 euros each per adult and 2 euros per person city tax for everyone that goes in. This was not included in the ticket price but if you didn't pay you would just be sat on the coach! The guide explained what we were looking at which we wouldn't of known if we hadn't of had one. We went last week the end of July and Pompeii was boiling hot with little way of getting any shade 2 people on our trip passed out from the heat so be prepared. There is no planned lunch stop so take snacks with you. In the afternoon the trip up mount Vesuvius was hot, hot, hot. This was also an extra 10 euros per adult to go up it. The walk up it took about 25 minutes it is very steep. My son is 6 and I think it would be very difficult with children under 6 and defiantly not suitable for prams. Wear really good shoes lots of people were slipping and falling on the way back down. However the view of Naples and into the crater was worth making the journey to the top.

Overview - A lot of travelling, hidden costs, not enough time exploring.
This trip involves an awful lot of time on the bus. In fact you spend more time travelling than enjoying the sites you've taken the tour to visit.
I understood that the ticket for Pompeii was not included in the tour beforehand and was prepared to pay the 11 euros advertised on their website.
Oh no! A full ticket is 13 euros and then the tour operator requests an extra 2 euro city tax on top so that's 15 euros per person. Our guide told me it was because we visited in July but was a bit fuzzier on the city tax part. The ticket office there was also advertising 13 for entry but where that city tax came from is a bit suspect. Make sure if you are aged 24 and under you bring your ID as you will qualify for a discount. I paid 9.50 but my fianc□ who forgot hers had to pay the full 15.
Our guide in Pompeii was very good but I didn't realise how big the place is. It really is a small city that you can walk around. We only scratched the surface and had no free time to explore for ourselves.
Back on the bus we head for Vesuvius where we're told that if we want to get up to the crater of the volcano we have to pay 10 euros per person. Now, the description rather cheekily omits this part. Yes you are taken up to 1000ft and the views are great. But come on... you're there to look into and across the crater of an active volcano.
Back to the bus to get back on the boat by which time you'll probably enjoy the best bit of the day, a dip in the med.
I would not recommend this trip. Find a better one when you are in Italy that is explicit and covers all the costs in the price.

Something you should do. You have to be fit and able to do Mt Vesuvius.
