This is a typical itinerary for this product
Stop At: Vatican Museums, Vatican City, Lazio
When your ship docks at the Civitavecchia cruise port, hop aboard your private air-conditioned vehicle for the drive into Rome, where your shore excursion starts in Vatican City. Meet your private guide, and enter the Vatican Museums with your skip-the-line ticket. Inside, wander the vast complex of galleries and rooms that house the world’s largest collection of art. Your guide will introduce you to the highlights, including, of course, the Sistine Chapel, where you can gaze in wonder at Michelangelo’s famous ceiling fresco, The Creation of Adam.

Stop At: St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City, Lazio
Then visit neighboring St Peter’s Basilica (where you’ll also skip the line) to see another famous Michelangelo piece, his La Piet? sculpture, before heading out to St Peter’s Square.

You’ll end your tour at the Colosseum, where your skip-the-line ticket once again allows you to go directly inside without waiting in the main entrance queue. Walk along the ancient amphitheater’s main level, and learn about the gory gladiator battles and other events that make up its bloody history. Your day tour ends with the drive back to Civitavecchia so you can catch your cruise ship.
Note: Your private guide provides commentary about Rome and its iconic sights throughout the day. If you have any special interests, such as architecture, art, culture or history, please provide this information at the time of booking so your guide can best prepare for your private tour. Worry-free Shore Excursion: We will ensure your timely return to the Civitavecchia port for this activity. If we could give 10 stars, we would! Dario was beyond amazing!!! From the first moment we met him, he focused immediately on our expectations and preferences! What a wonderful day we had! Dario had everything set up perfectly so we had no lines, no waiting! We saw all the best of Rome with expert background, history, insider perspective, and humor from Dario! We could not have asked for anything better and have recommended this tour many times since our return. Dario made it the best experience possible, and he also worked extremely well with our driver, Stephan, to ensure everything went smoothly! This experience was priceless and will rank as one of our best travel days ever!

Top rate service! Driver Paulo picked us up on time at the ship's gang plank, careful and safe driver. Tour guide Rossallini was extremely knowledgeable about Rome and able to relay information in a manner we could understand. She was also very good at maneuvering us along our tour route avoiding crowds where possible. Great day in Rome! Will definately use Viator in the future. Sorry if I've mispelled Paulo or Rossallini's names.

Saw as much of Rome as you can in one day. Our driver was friendly our tour guide in Rome, Barbara, was outstanding. Highly recommend the skip the lines at Vatican and coliseum.

This private tour was perfect for our family of 5. Tatiana was a wonderful tour guide. We had a great day. Lunch was tasty at a small restaurant that was very good, and not crowded, with a yummy gelato shop right next door! We walked along the cobblestone streets enjoying our dessert and hearing about the history of Rome. Every aspect of this tour was perfect. We even had headsets so that we could hear Tatiana talk while she was walking ahead of us, or while we were in loud spaces or in crowds. We saw everything you would want to see in Rome in a day! We walked a ton, and were exhausted, but it was worth it!

This excursion was an absolutely incredible experience! From the moment we were picked up at our ship until we were dropped back off, everything was 1st class. Our tour guide Laura was so personable and knowledgeable, absolutely fantastic. She spent time with my wife and I to discuss what we were going to see and, what we could photograph. Her knowledge was amazing. She took us places and showed us things we would never had seen on our own or, most likely on any other tour. The best part of the tour was the personal interaction with her, incredibly, it was just myself, my wife and Laura, so it couldn't get any better. Thank you Laura for showing us an amazing day in Rome..... Hope to tour with you again in the future.... Thank you.....Bill and Wendy

Tatiana was amazing and so knowledgeable. Our only complaint, and it's a big one- our driver was 40 minutes late picking us up Viator's directions to us were that the driver would meet us right off the ship- the driver was told to meet us just inside the port two areas about a 5 minute drive apart. We had to call and then wait for them to get ahold of the driver, and then wait some more when you only have 8 hours in Rome, you want all the time you can get.
A general observation, feedback item would be for all tour guides to bring couples/families to favorite/memorable areas for photos first and then go into explanations of the history. Overall, a really great job! -
This was a great tour!! The driver met us at the dock and we were introduced to our guide, Michela Landolfi, at our first stop. She was great!! Personable, engaging and informative....even joined us for lunch to insure we had a great experience...introduced us to her favorite Gelato shop ....This tour was well worth the cost....
