Stop At: Duomo di Pisa, Pisa, Province of Pisa, Tuscany
Piazza dei Miracoli, Pisa’s monument-filled central square. Stand before the Leaning Tower of Pisa for photos and learn about the Baptistery and Pisa Duomo, both resplendent in the local white marble.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Galleria dell'Accademia, Florence, Tuscany
Continue to Florence and enjoy free time for lunch at your own expense. Later, meet back up with your guide for a walking tour. Discover medieval streets and craftsmen’s workshops as you stroll with tales of the powerful Florentine Medici family ringing in your ears. Then, head inside the Accademia Gallery to see Michelangelo’s sculpture of ‘David’ alongside other influential Renaissance art by the likes of Da Vinci and Botticelli.
If time permits, visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore to swoon at Brunelleschi’s dome, check out the baptistery, and admire Giotto’s Bell Tower. Finish with a quick trip up to Piazzale Michelangelo where a stunning city vista awaits. Cast your gaze over the Ponte Vecchio, River Arno, and Florence Duomo, then return to your minibus for the journey back to Rome. Your day ends with a hotel drop-off.

Whilst in Rome, consider day trips to nearby destinations. Our guide arrived at our hotel at the indicated 7:00am time sharp. They had already picked up a single traveler before us, and we made a quick extra stop to pick up a mother and daughter. That’s it. Five souls to sour group. The drive is LONG, so the first stop was at a gas station/convenience store with added coffee and sandwich bar. Seemed like a good idea. However, several groups seemed to arrive within five minutes and the small store was overwhelmed with people demanding a quick breakfast meal. Talk about chaos! Orderly lines for service seem to be an alien concept to most. Credit card terminal was on the fritz, so bad luck for those of us not carrying euros left over from the night before. First stop was Pisa and, while it’s relatively close to Rome, and we’d arrived around 10:45, the place was already packed. Be prepared to exercise patience. After about an hour’s worth of picture ops, we proceeded to Florence. Once there, at our guide’s suggestion, we had lunch in front of the market at a place called Trattoria Vecchio Mercato where we shared a delicious 800gr T-bone steak. Afterwards, we were taken by our assigned and very knowledgeable guide for a tour around the city with the “de rigeur” explanations and history lessons. Our tour of Firenze ended at the Ponte Vecchio and culminated at the Terrazze Michelangelo for some breathtaking views of the city and the Arno river. Selfie ops took the last of our phones’ batteries. Got back to Rome in time for dinner. Overall great experience. We highly recommend.

Our guide, Cristina, had a lot of knowledge. This was a private tour with just our family of 3. The trip was long. When one of us fell asleep, she made rude statements about we were missing. Once at the Tower of Pisa, we were lead on a very quick tour of the beautiful cathedral. Once we left, we were unable to return. The guide wanted us to hear the sound of the baptismal bldg.It was beautiful but the bldg itself was bare. We were then told that we could look at the Tower of Pisa for one hour and take pictures. I would have rather spent the time looking at the artwork in the cathedral. Our time in Florence was sooo short. I think it should have been more than a day trip from Rome. The drive time was much longer than the time we spent touring.

We are in Rome for a week and did a day trip to Pisa and Florence. Well worth it. Would love to go back and spend a night in Florence. Tour guides were great as was our driver. If your not sure, just do it! You won’t be disappointed!

Our small group ended up just being my daughter and I. Our guide on the drive to Pisa/Florence provided great history of the area. We had a short time in Pisa, but enough to see the area. Our guide booked a great lunch spot for us in Florence. After lunch the local tour guide met us at our restaurant and walked us around Florence. This guy was amazing! The best tour guide I have ever had. His passion for the museum and art such as the statue of David was contagious. He had a great knowledge of Florence walking us through key points of the city. One last stop on the way home for spectacular views of Florence and then dropped off at our hotel. This is a long day, but it is packed with so many amazing things to see. We loved every minute of it!! You will not be let down by this trip.

Well worth the travel day. Seeing the Statue of David in Florence and the Leaning Tower of Pisa were highlights of our vacation to Italy. We had a group of 4 (!) Wonderful experience.

Very awesome trip! Was able to see Pisa and the buildings associated with it in the square. Not a lot of time however for pictures and you must be very quick as we only stayed there for about 40 minutes total. Felt a little rushed but the site was amazing!! Florence was again awesome and seeing
