In the early morning, make your way to the prearranged meeting point in central Rome to begin a fun-filled day at sea and on beautiful Ponza Island.
After a 1 hour trip to the dock in an air-conditioned vehicle board a fast ferry boat (1.5 hours) to Ponza Island and prepare to take in the beauty of the azure sea. The cost of the round-trip ferry ticket is 50 and must be paid at check in on the day of your tour.
On arrival, swap the ferry for a small excursion boat. Meet your tour leader and captain, a native of Ponza, and listen to intriguing tales related to Ponza and its history as you set off on your 5 hour excursion around the island.
The boat makes several stops at the most beautiful bays and coves around the island where you'll have ample time to cool off and swim in the crystalline waters. Bob up and down in the sea, which turns a stunning transparent blue-green color near the island. Upgrade your tour to include a snorkel and mask, or simply lay your towel down on the boat’s deck and enjoy the sun and the sea breeze. At lunchtime, the captain whips up a delicious pasta, served with bottled water and wine.
At Ponza Island, 21 miles (34 km) off the coast, check out the many grottoes that dot the cliff sides. The most famous is the Grotto (sea cave) of Circe, named for the seducing sorceress of Homer’s
Odyssey, who turned Odysseus’ men into animals. Sea conditions permitting, the most adventurous members of the group can swim in and through a sea cave.
Back in Ponza's picture-perfect main port, spend an hour of free time exploring the island. Walk the narrow streets and pop into boutique shops around the port. Or just enjoy a traditional aperitivo as you take in the view.
At the end of the day, relax on the journey back to the mainland, where you’ll meet your air-conditioned vehicle for the ride back to central Rome.

Gina was our tour guide and she was spectacular! So very informative! The sites were beautiful! We loved every minute of it!

This was absolutely gorgeous and well worth the trip. The trip there is 1 hour by bus and 1.5 on the ferry. Just nap and it goes quickly. Eat well before going. My husband and I made the mistake of eating light and we got very lightheaded on the boat until we were able to eat lunch. The tuna pasta for lunch was ok. It’s canned tuna by the way. A great trip overall. Sleep well the night before and take the naps because it is a long day of fun in the sun. You will be exhausted afterwards.

Went on with my 6 family members and had such a blast. Everything was so well organized and enjoyable for all of us. Stopped at 5 swim stops and got to swim in grottos and sea caves. Gina was awesome, and super informative. The long transportation is definitely worth it!

We had a really great day! Basic food and boat but we enjoyed it! The trip around Ponza was breathtaking and we enjoyed our swimming opportunities. Will probably do it again as opposed to the more populous island destinations.

We LOVED snorkeling at Ponza Island. I traveled w/ my mom and 13-year-old niece and we had such a great time! Our tour guide was fun and spunky and made everyone felt welcome. The only gripe is that you spend more time on the boat 'touring' than you do actually snorkeling. The first spot we spent about 30 minutes then back on the boat to the second spot for 45 minutes and then that's it and considering this is about an all-day excursion it would be nice to spend more time in the actual water. They offer a fun pasta salad on the boat but I recommend bringing extra snacks as it will not fill you up. Heads up for non-swimmers life jackets are not provided. There were some people on our tour that had to stay on the boat because they couldn't swim and there were no life jackets so keep that in mind.

Ponza day trip was fantastic and I would only change a few things. Our guide Kimberly was energetic, knowledgeable, well organized, and fun. The trip starts out early and there's a nearby coffee shop you can also buy a light breakfast but don't be late. The bus ride to Anzio is 45 min and pretty. Then a short stop for another coffee and onto a 1.5hr ferry ride. Take the first seats you find together because you'll be out of luck for seating together otherwise. We arrived on Ponza and had another quick bathroom break but use the ferry bathrooms if you can manage to change into bathing suits and use the toilet. It's just easier or wear your bathing suit from your hotel. Ponza is beautiful and the swimming was amazing. The crew was really nice with our captain cooking the pasta. Not a bad idea to fill your bag with food and water to munch on because it's a long day. The boat is not luxury and that's part of it's charm but the speaker system is wicked below and it hurts your ears with the pitch and loudness. Other than that it was great to get out on the city especially in August when it's beyond hot. A fantastic trip th the best guide. Thx Kimberly.

Great break away from the museums and monuments across Rome, especially for our 4 kids 10-19. We had 4-5 opportunities to swim, including through caves, jumped off some 15ft high rocks, and just absorbed the gorgeous scenery. Spent an hour wandering and eating around the island's main town. Don't go if you get sea sick, and plan on being gone the entire 13 hours about 2.5 hours travel each way. Totally worth it to see another side of Italy. Our guides were enthusiastic, friendly.

Great tour ! amazing time. We did this with our two 6 year olds and they loved it. Make sure kids are good swimmers if you take them along, there are many stops around the island and some involve swimming through caves :- Amazing views, the water is like cristal. Great tour !

13h tour seemed daunting, but was well worth it and highlight of our trip. 5 stops to swim/snorkel, each location more beautiful than last. Water crystal clear w/magical scenery. Capt. led swim thru caves/grottos, then made a great fresh tuna pasta lunch. One hour free to explore the port. Amazing!

A GREAT tour - Kimberley is a friendly and well informed tour guide and the captain and mate highly skilled and agile with the boat! Awesome for snorkeling or just swimming, and boat comfortable for group of 30-35. Ponza's beauty blew us away, highly recommend!!
