Relive the Jubilee of the Middle Ages with a full-day tour of Rome's largest and most spectacular basilicas during the Holy Year.
Begin by the Holy Door and continue to St. Peter's Basilica, located in the Vatican State. The Great St. Peter's Basilica, built by Constantine in 324, is considered the mother church of all the churches in the world. Its dimensions are impressive: it is the largest church in the world that has hosted the greatest artists such as Giotto and Michelangelo.
Your visit will continue with the St. Paul’s Basilica which stands in the place where St. Paul is buried. It was built first as a burial chapel, then transformed in Basilica by Constantine and consecrated by the Pope Sylvester I. The tour will continue by reaching the Basilica San Giovanni, the cathedral of the Diocese of Rome and the official ecclesiastical seat of the Pope.
The tour ends at the famous Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, the first one dedicated to Mary. The Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore stands at the top of Cispio, one of the three peaks of the Esquiline Hill. According to legend, in 352, the Pope dreamed of the Madonna instructing him to build a church where he found the snow. When on the morning of August 5th, in the middle of a hot Roman summer, it snowed on Esquilino Hill, the Pope obeyed and built the church precisely called St. Mary of the Snow.行程概要出發地點
