We were a group of 10. Two families mine was Wife and I, 10,9,7 years old. Theirs was Husband and Wife, 16,14,11. We started where they make the Mosaic's after skipping all lines. It was unbelievable the access they gave us while showing us the process of maintaining the Vatican's mosaics and creating new art as well. I am not an art guy, but this was impressive. The rest of the tour was St Peters basilica and Cupola. our guide spoke perfect English and very well educated. She made everything interesting and informative.

This tour is a must for anyone who has studied art or art history at any time of their lives! The first part of the tour you are lead to the side part of the Vatican which hold the mosaic studio. My husband and I were the only ones part of this tour. we were given the tour by the director of the Vatican mosaic studio himself. he lead us through the studio where the artists do their magic, no pictures could be taken this part of the tour. Truly beautiful! Again...a must of art enthusiasts.
The second part of the tour was with our wonderful guide Amil. Who is hands down one of the nicest people on the planet she made sure that not only did we get a wonderful, knowledgeable , informative tour but she went out of her way to make sure my husband and I had great photo opportunities...To put it bluntly she totally ROCKED!!! Thank you Amil! -

This tour was fabulous! Visiting the Mosaic Studio was so interesting. The history of St. Peter's Basilica was fascinating. The walk up to the cupola was difficult, but well worth it!
