Stop At: Colosseum, Rome, Lazio
Begin your tour of Rome’s most iconic monument with Skip-the-Line access directly through the Gladiator’s Gate. Once the main exit for defeated contenders, this special entrance leads you directly to the parts of the Colosseum most tourists don’t get to see.
Your first stop is the Colosseum Underground the backstage area where gladiators prepared for battle. Here, your expert, English-speaking guide will call on their historical and archaeological expertise to let you imagine the space as it once was. Scenery and caged wild animals stood ready to be hoisted into the arena by ingenious pulleys. You’ll practically feel the gladiators’ tense anticipation and hear the roar of the blood-thirsty crowd.
Then, walk in the gladiators’ footsteps on a partially reconstructed arena stage a unique and amazing photo opportunity. And unlike the gladiators, you’ll get to ascend from the Arena Floor to the Colosseum’s second tier, where fans cheered the violent spectacles below.

The next stop on the tour takes you back to the very beginning. The Palatine Hill is the spot Romulus chose to found the city that would become Rome in 753 BC a decision that ended in tragedy for his brother Remus. We really enjoyed this tour and really recommend the early departure time as there are very few people in the area that early. This tour gets you to areas of the Colosseum that are not very crowded and going early helps avoid the crowds even more. Our tour guide was so great and fun. The only complaint is that we were unable to see the Roman Forum as the lines were too long and we wouldn't make our next tour had we waited.

We had a wonderful guide and it was the perfect amount of time spent in all 3 places. This tour takes you from the bottom all the way to the top of the colosseum which other tours do not offer. My entire family loved this tour

GOOD: Tour guide was knowledgeable and likeable and included all the interesting bits of information and was able to answer most questions well.
BAD: Organization. Both my friends (a group of 5) and mine (group of 3) were moved to the April 4, 11:45 time. On arrival, there were two guides. One guide got the group of my 5 friends, ONLY! and the other got the three of us PLUS 18 OTHERS. We asked to go with the much smaller group that consisted of our 5 friends and the organizer said no, she couldn't do that and said it was a private tour. Our 5 friends were encouraging us to join them and had assumed, because of the move to the same time, we were on the same tour. I dislike a large tour group (hence going to your "small group tour" that was NOT so small.) It made me angry and I had to really concentrate to brush it off and enjoy the tour as it was. -
Fantastic tour that was absolutely worth it. In my opinion, a small tour is the best way to see the Colosseum, especially since we got to skip the line and have underground access. Our guide, Selena, knew her stuff, and conveyed the history of these sites with enthusiasm and accuracy. It was just the right amount of time. I highly recommend this tour and company (City Wonders) to anyone visiting Rome (or anywhere else in Italy, for that matter).

Both tour guides were very informative. All the sites were amazing and unbelievable. Be prepared to be walking a lot and climbing steep steps. Overall, it was very enjoyable experience and I highly recommend for anyone thinking about taking this tour.

We truly enjoyed this tour of the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. The tour guide was very good and made sure that we got the full experience of the Colosseum from all levels including the underground passages. The tour of the Roman Forum was excellent as well. Our guide had an extensive knowledgebase and guided us through perfectly with no waiting in lines. I highly recommend this tour. You will see everything that the Colosseum and Roman Forum have to offer and not feel rushed. The earphone and transmitting devices that all people on the tour received made it very easy to hear the tour guide no matter where she was. This tour was well worth the money. It was excellent.

We toured the Coliseum from the very bottom to the very top. Amazing sites. Great tour guides. If you like historical sites this is the one to see.
