Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product
Stop At: Sistine Chapel, Vatican City, Lazio
The Sistine Chapel ceiling, painted by Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512, is one of the most renowned artworks of the High Renaissance. Central to the ceiling decoration are nine scenes from the Book of Genesis of which The Creation of Adam is the best known, the hands of God and Adam being reproduced in countless imitations. The complex design includes several sets of individual figures, both clothed and nude, which allowed Michelangelo to fully demonstrate his skill in creating a huge variety of poses for the human figure, and have provided an enormously influential pattern book of models for other artists ever since.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Vatican Museums, Vatican City, Lazio
The Vatican Museums (Italian: Musei Vaticani; Latin: Musea Vaticana) are Christian and art museums located within the city boundaries of the Vatican City. They display works from the immense collection amassed by popes throughout the centuries including several of the most renowned Roman sculptures and most important masterpieces of Renaissance art in the world. The museums contain roughly 70,000 works, of which 20,000 are on display, and currently employ 640 people who work in 40 different administrative, scholarly, and restoration departments
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City, Lazio
The Papal Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican (Italian: Basilica Papale di San Pietro in Vaticano), or simply St. Peter's Basilica (Latin: Basilica Sancti Petri), is an Italian Renaissance church in Vatican City, the papal enclave within the city of Rome.
Designed principally by Donato Bramante, Michelangelo, Carlo Maderno and Gian Lorenzo Bernini, St. Peter's is the most renowned work of Renaissance architecture and the largest church in the world. While it is neither the mother church of the Catholic Church nor the cathedral of the Diocese of Rome, St. Peter's is regarded as one of the holiest Catholic shrines. It has been described as "holding a unique position in the Christian world" and as "the greatest of all churches of Christendom".
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Vatican City, Vatican City, Lazio
The Vatican City is an ecclesiastical or sacerdotal-monarchical state (a type of theocracy) ruled by the pope who is, religiously speaking, the bishop of Rome and head of the Catholic Church. The highest state functionaries are all Catholic clergy of various national origins. Since the return of the popes from Avignon in 1377, they have generally resided at the Apostolic Palace within what is now Vatican City, although at times residing instead in the Quirinal Palace in Rome or elsewhere.
Duration: 3 hours
Stop At: Stanze di Raffaello, Vatican City, Lazio
The four Raphael Rooms (Italian: Stanze di Raffaello) form a suite of reception rooms in the palace, the public part of the papal apartments in the Palace of the Vatican. They are famous for their frescoes, painted by Raphael and his workshop. Together with Michelangelo's ceiling frescoes in the Sistine Chapel, they are the grand fresco sequences that mark the High Renaissance in Rome.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Cortile della Pigna, Vatican City, Lazio
The Cortile del Belvedere, (Belvedere Courtyard in English) was a major architectural work of the High Renaissance at the Vatican Palace in Rome. Designed by Donato Bramante from 1506 onward, its concept and details reverberated in courtyard design, formalized piazzas and garden plans throughout Western Europe for centuries.[citation needed] Conceived as a single enclosed space, the long Belvedere court connected the Vatican Palace with the Villa Belvedere in a series of terraces connected by stairs, and was contained on its sides by narrow wings.
Bramante did not see the work completed, and before the end of the sixteenth century it had been irretrievably altered by a building across the court, dividing it into two separate courtyards

We had a great time visiting the Vatican and others. Our tour guide Marie navigated 29 of us thru a large crowd and gave us all the information we needed to learn about the history.
-
Our tour was on the 6th March at 0830 English tour, sadly can't remember the young ladies name.
She was however excellent in her organisation of getting us through the crowds and finding space to talk to us. As you would expect she was a mind of of interesting facts and information.
Great tour if honest and well worth it. -
Unfortunately we could not find the meeting place and we missed the tour! That was our only opportunity to visit the Vatican inside and so we are very very disappointed not only to have missed that wonderful tour but the expense that we are out . We tried calling Viatour but was unable to reach any one.
-
Although you could tell the tour guide was very nice, experienced and well versed on the information and history of this tour, it was very difficult to understand him when speaking in English. This was experienced not only by us but also by others we spoke to during the tour who shared the tour with us. Perhaps, he would be better to only provide Italian speaking tours in the future.
-
Fabulous guide..... glided through the tour effortless even though Vatican was so crowded
-
Our tour guides name was Marcus. Now I am sure he had lots of good information to give but no one on our tour could hear or understand his accent. His microphone was attached to his shirt. When we looked around at other tour companies around here in the Vatican all of the guides had their microphones attached to a headset so the microphone was close to their mouths. We told him we couldn't hear and he said don't worry when we go into a different room it will get better. Well it didn't. The last part of the tour is St. Peter Basilica. By the time we got there more than half of the 26 people in our tour group were so fed up that we couldn't hear/understand our guide that we gave him back our headphones and walked around St. Peter's on our own. We were disappointed to say the least.

Not worth the money!!! Buy a NON-GUIDED skip the line pass if you want to truly experience the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St. Peters Basilica. I understand that it is crowded all the time however our guide rushed us through the entire tour, never stopping to allow us to actually enjoy or take in the maginificence. In fact she didnt even take us through the entire museum, we skipped the statue hall, which is a HUGE part of the museum. The guided tour was frustrating and by the end my husband and I felt like we didnt learn or see anything that we couldnt have just googled. Definitely avoid this tour and do it your self but still buy a skip the line pass or youll be waiting forever!

GOOD IDEA TO PRE BOOK TOUR AND BE PREPAIRED TO WAIT FOR ENTRY DUE TO VOLUME OF VISITORS ALSO LOTS OF INFORMATION TO TAKE IN
-
Very informative and very calm guide which was needed as it was so busy ...but our guide kept us all together and had so much information to share - a pleasure to be shown around the Vatican with him.
-
Really good guide Ferdinando was informative engaging calm and knew so many little facts- a true pleasure and we got a real feel of what it would be like to be a gladiator!
