Piazza Navona is one of the most historied places in Rome. With fabulous stories waiting to be told both above and below ground, this square sets a perfect place to start our tour through history. Gianlorenzo Bernini and Francesco Borromini were the two leading architects during the Baroque period and responsible for some of the most fabulous heritage of the Roman city. Discover Bernini’s Fountain of the Rivers and Borromini’s Church of Saint Agnes. Two magnificent pieces built practically during the same period as a clear sign of their rivalry.
Few meters away lay another Borromini’s masterpiece, the Sant'Ivo alla Sapienza church. With the recognizable corkscrew-shaped lantern on top, the church was dedicated to host Sapienza University.
For the third stop of the journey we will visit the Sant’Andrea della Valle basilica church. Located a few blocks south from our prior destination, the church’s dome is covered with unmatched frescos done by Giovanni Lanfranco and Domenichino.
