Experience Vatican City and see the most popular historical masterpieces and locales it has to offer human civilization. After meeting your guide in the afternoon, the expedition starts at the Vatican Museums, where you will be exposed to a plethora of Roman art from 3 artistic styles of Baroque, Renaissance and Medieval. In turn, you will also see ancient Roman sculptures, mosaics and art-craft. Don’t worry, your expert guide will explain over 2000 years of Roman history along the way.
Enter the hidden Raphael Rooms, a suite of four reception rooms that are rarely publicly appreciated, and take in their frescoes or most commonly known mural paintings. Paired with Michelangelo’s frescoes in the Sistine Chapel, they are the famous fresco sequences that mark the High Renaissance period in Rome.
The journey continues as you make your way to the Sistine Chapel. Upon entrance, your guide will explain the life, times and works of Michelangelo and the patron of this chapel, Pope Julius II. Imagine a work of art so vast that it paints nine scenes of a story. This is Michelangelo’s ceiling fresco in the Sistine Chapel. Your eyes will thank you for the beauty they have just witnessed.
From there, it only gets better as you walk through one of the largest churches in the world, and one of the most recognized works of Renaissance architecture, St. Peter’s Basilica. St. Peter’s was designed by the great artists Donato Bramante, Carlo Maderno, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, and Michelangelo, and holds up to 20,000 people. This was a dreadful experience. My family and I arrived at the meeting point to be advised that there would be an additional charge for headphones, I queried this as I mentioned that I had previously called Viator to check that there were no extra/hidden charges and was advised that there were none. The guide then put me on the phone to a lady at the tour company that you had subcontracted this to and she advised that this charge would stand for groups greater than 6 people. I suggested that they should include this detail regarding the group size in the literature and she said that they would look at this. This was a pleasant conversation and at no point was she rude to me and I was not rude to her. I agreed to pay the fee and the guide was about to start the tour when she received a call from Giuseppe,the manager of the tour company who asked to speak to me so she passed me the phone.He started to shout and rant at me over the phone saying that he didn't want customers like me and that I had an attitude problem! I was horrified by this and deeply embarrassed as all of the group could hear this. Perhaps the lady that I spoke to on the phone had gone back to her boss with a different account of what had actually happened but for him to come on the phone and shout at a customer is not acceptable at all. I didn't want to listen to him or have an argument with him so I didn't engage at all with him but instead passed the phone back to the tour guide. She then started translating what he was saying in front of the entire group! To say I was humiliated is an understatement. I had my elderly mother and young daughter with me and the whole experience was just dreadful. As I had paid so much money for the tour we started the tour with the guide but were unable to enjoy any of it due to what had happened. We cut short the tour as we didn't want to continue with the full 3hrs. I would welcome your comments on this and if you are able to listen to the recording of the call?

Our tour was very interesting and enjoyable. Our tour guide Gabriella was very knowledgable and friendly!

This tour was fantastic, our tour guide shared so many details of Vatican City and The Sistine Chapel that we would not have been able to find on our own. The meeting spot and smaller group allowed for many one on one questions to be answered as well, highly recommended.

I was absolutely enthralled. We had a very lovely Italian tour guide who was very patient a few of our party left the tour early and softly spoken, which I much preferred. Some other tour guides were shouting and I found this overwhelming. She made lots of eye contact with me and was extremely engaging, at one point I felt like the only person on the tour. It was really well organised and very smooth! Worth every penny and thoroughly recommended.

This tour was confirmed weeks before with the tour company in Italy. The tour guide arrived on time to the meeting point and was very professional through the tour. He spoke fluent English and always communicate with us about the process of the tour pick up the radios, pay the fees, etc. There were 13 people on this tour as arranged and he guided us for almost three hours through the museum, the Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica. He shared with us not only his knowledge but also some of his personal experiences as a guide.
