The tower, which took nearly 200 years to construct, started leaning even before it was finished and still nobody knows for sure why this is! Some say it was the result of an architectural miscalculation, whereas others believe the soft clay ground was the cause. Decide for yourself by exploring this must-see UNESCO World Heritage Site! After exchanging your voucher for your afternoon ticket, head past the long entrance lines that gather in Cathedral Square and start the climb skywards.
You’ll have a strict 30 minutes to climb to the top, take in the views and head back down, so be sure to make every second of your time in the tower count! The 294-step staircase can be disconcerting; with steps slanting different ways, but you’ll be rewarded with fantastic panoramic views over Pisa from the top! Walk around the tower’s balcony and take photos of the busy square below, littered with incredible monuments like Pisa Cathedral and the Campo Santo cemetery.

Finding the guide was a bit difficult, but climbing the tower was not. I was impressed with the view and the bells at the top.

We decided on this at the last minute. I had been told to give Pisa a miss. This was one of our best experiences. The teens in our group loved the tower. The climb is a little unsettling and it feels like you are tipsy. A very strange feeling but well worth the price of admission. We went on a Sunday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised that mass was being held in the duomo and the choir was singing the most beautiful music it brought tears to my eyes. Unfortunately we were too late to see the Baptista. Next time. Well worth a day trip. We received the ticket about 15 minutes before our entrance time. Plenty of time to check bags. No bags are allowed only cameras and cell phones are allowed.

It was wonderful to see this historic place. Enjoyed the view from the top but given that you spend a good bit of time up there and the view doesn't change, I didn't stay long. It was tiresome going up and a little disorientating coming back down given the slanty stairs. The grounds surrounding the tower are stunning and it was lovely to just chill in the sunshine looking up at this wonder.

It was great to visit Pisa but didn't like how we had to get our tickets. First off, we didn't like the fact that we had to meet someone at the corner of a street we didn't know. The street name was not visible on the building. We had to pretty much find a needle in a haystack. It was so busy there. Once we finally found the guy with our tickets we had no choice but to take the time they gave us. We landed up waiting another couple of hours before we could go up. They are pretty strict there only allowing a certain amount of people up every 15 minutes. Once you get to the top of Pisa though the view is amazing. BTW...they don't allow any bags or backpacks so make sure you check your items in the building that is straight across from the tower first before standing in line. You can also purchase your tickets there which I think we should have done. All in all, I wasn't that impressed. The building doesn't look so authentic anymore.

Excellent! by buying ahead of time we did not have to stand in line long. This is well worth it!

It's very interesting climbing the worn down stairs in a leaning tower, but it was well worth the money, great views from the top

The leaning tower is only 5 minute walk from Train station Pisa S. Rossore Station which is 4 minute train ride from Pisa Centrale Station. We picked up our pre-purchased tickets from the guide who was standing within a couple of feet from the entry door of the leaning tower with no issues. Our entry time was shown on the ticket which allowed us enough time to go to office next to tower to put all of our personal items in locker Can only take a camera on climb to top, which was free of charge. Climbing the stairs in the tower is a thrill. Stair steps are made of beautiful marble and very easy to climb. Your body will actually try to lean in the direction of the leaning tower, as you climb. This was a terrific experience and should be on everyone's bucket list of things you must do at least once in your life. Great experience!

This is a must for anyone visiting Pisa. The meeting point and agent was easy to find and he was friendly. The walk up the tower was brilliant. The staircase for the first few flights really bank to one side depending which side of the tower you are. It eases off the higher you go. You also get to visit the Duomo with your ticket after you have been up the tower.

The tower itself was amazing! There was no guide and no line so we could have just purchased our own tickets and saved money rather than paying for this tour
