Meet your guide in the afternoon and embark on an illuminating journey through Naples’ historical center. Let your guide introduce you to the city, sharing information about its history and explaining why so much Baroque art and architecture was produced here.Enjoy a slice of Neapolitan life through the ages as you explore. Stop to admire the unique spiky front of the Ges□ Nuovo church, which contrasts greatly with its gilded Baroque interior.Make your way into the historical center of Naples, where your guide will point out some lesser-known treasures. See numerous chapels and churches, which hold magnificent art inside their sacred walls. Look out for Cappella Sansevero, San Domenico Maggiore and the church of Santa Chiara.Walk to San Lorenzo Maggiore, a Gothic church that sits above the remains of an original Roman market. Venture down into the archeological site (own expense) to examine the excavated ruins.Pay a visit to the church of Pio Monte della Misericordia, which houses several paintings, the most famous among them being Caravaggio’s The Seven Works of Mercy. This priceless Renaissance painting has hung here since its completion in the early 17th century. Hear your guide explain the significance of this renowned artwork.Next, head to the Duomo di San Gennaro, Naples’ grand cathedral. Built on the site of a 4th-century basilica, this cathedral features many marble statues, frescoes and intricate Baroque details.行程概要出發地點
