    Start your full-day tour with a pickup from your hotel in the morning, and travel for roughly 7 miles (12 km) to the suburb of Rueil-Malmaison on the outskirts of Paris. Here you’ll visit Chteau de Malmaison, a beautiful country home where Napoleon I and his first wife, Jos□phine de Beauharnais, lived around the turn of the 19th century.

    On your tour of the estate, hear the story of Napoleon and Jos□phine, the first emperor and empress of France. Along with the Tuileries in Paris, Chteau de Malmaison served as the headquarters of the French government from 1800 to 1802. Walk through beautifully restored rooms, featuring original furnishings and paintings, and head to the lovely outdoor gardens; when Jos□phine lived here, she collected rare, exotic plants and animals to transform the estate into “the most beautiful and curious garden in Europe.”

    Jos□phine claimed Chteau de Malmaison after her divorce with Napoleon, and lived here until her death in 1814. After his defeat at the Battle of Waterloo, Napol□on returned to Malmaison and lived here before his exile to the island of St Helena.

    Enjoy lunch with your group after your tour, followed by free time to visit the nearby church of St-Pierre-St-Paul, where Jos□phine is buried alongside her daughter, Hortense (mother of Napoleon III).

    Travel back to Paris in the afternoon to visit Les Invalides, the famous military monument whose iconic gilded dome dominates the Paris skyline. This complex of buildings contain museums, monuments and tombs relating to the military history of France.

    Follow your guide inside the church, where, under its magnificent golden cupola, is the final resting place of many famous French war heroes. Visit Napoleon's tomb and hear stories about his significant role as a military leader in the French Revolution, his controversial time as the emperor of France and his untimely demise.

    After your tour at Les Invalides, finish your day with a hotel drop-off.

    We had a great day! Our guide was very knowleable and helpful. We were pleased the tour went ahead with jus the 2 of us. Lunch was very nice, lovely setting. Perhaps some provision could be made for those with limited mobility, the van was quite difficult to get into
