    Your full-day tour starts with a hotel pickup and a 7-mile (12-km) journey to the suburb of Rueil-Malmaison, home to Chteau de Malmaison. This gorgeous country home is where Napoleon I and his first wife, Jos□phine de Beauharnais, lived at the beginning of the 19th century. Chteau de Malmaison, along with the Tuileries in Paris, served as the headquarters of the French government from 1800 to 1802.

    Follow your guide on a private tour of the estate to get a glimpse into the life of the first French emperor and empress. Walk through elegantly restored rooms displaying original furnishings and paintings. Outside, walk through the lovely gardens that Jos□phine endeavored to transform into “the most beautiful and curious garden in Europe." Jos□phine continued to live at Chteau de Malmaison after her divorce from Napoleon, until her death in 1814. After his defeat at the Battle of Waterloo, Napol□on returned to Malmaison until his exile to the island of St Helena.

    After your tour, enjoy lunch with your group and then have free time to visit the nearby church of St-Pierre-St-Paul, where Jos□phine is buried. Her daughter, Hortense ─ mother of Napoleon III ─ is also buried here.

    Travel back to Paris in the afternoon for the second part of your tour, Les Invalides. Topped by the iconic golden dome that dominates the Paris skyline, this famous military monument is where Napoleon is buried. Hear stories about Napoleon's bravery during the French Revolution, his controversial time as emperor and his untimely death. Finally, enter the Dme des Invalides to see his remarkable granite tomb.

    After your Les Invalides tour, finish your day with a hotel drop-off back in Paris.

    We had an excellent day. Our guide was very knowledgable, friendly, spoke excellent english and had a very French sense of humour! Malmaison and Les Invalides were stunning to see and quite a contrast to each other. The lunch was excellent and all arrangements were bang on time. Highly recommended.

    Alvira my guide was delightful and very passionate in sharing her knowledge of Napoleon and Josephine Bonaparte lives and places they dwelled at. I found although the cost was high, I got exceptional value for the price. The main lunch meal needs to be reviewed salmon nice but rest of dish poor prep !
