Explore Paris' vibrant Marais district during your walking tour. As you walk, your friendly guide will explain the fascinating history of this district, one of the oldest in Paris. The Marais was the site of the first Jewish settlement in Paris and continues to be the hub of the Jewish community today. Pass by the Memorial de la Shoah, an important Jewish site inaugurated in 2005 that stands as a powerful reminder of the Holocaust in France.
Continue to the Place des Voges, one of the oldest squares in Paris and a highlight of the Marais. It was once a royal park and is considered to be one of the most beautiful squares in Paris; it was also home to famous French writer Victor Hugo. Next see one of the best examples of Jewish culture in the Marais today the cobbled Rue des Rosiers, home to Jewish bakeries, bookshops and kosher food outlets. Excellent walk about the Marais filled with nooks and crannies you may never knew existed bar for the happy tour guide. Vey helpful to get perspective on the area, it's occupants and life's' impacts on it's inhabitants :-

So great that I took it twice!

My husband and I have always loved the Marais district for its charm and liveliness. We saw the Marais but did not know it. This tour brought it to life in a way we could not do by ourselves. Kit was a remarkable guide, explaining both the architecture and the history of each place we saw. Kit brought to life the many French revolutions. My husband laughed that Kit should have been his history teacher, We saw the interior of several churches and Hotel Particulars most notably Place des Voges and Hotel Sully. The most poignant part of the tour was Kit showing us plaques listing the young French children who died in concentration camps in WW2. We highly recommend this tour.
