Your tour begins with a guided walk around le de la Cit□, to see the buildings that date back to the founding of medieval Paris. Your expert, English-speaking guide will show you remnants of the original royal palace: the Conciergerie, which went on to become an infamous prison during the French Revolution. Next, you’ll see Sainte-Chapelle, a church built by Louis IX to house relics of Jesus’ crucifixion.

Since 1830, a flower market has thrived between Sainte-Chapelle and Notre Dame, giving you a chance to pause and reflect before the highlight of the tour. After you’ve explored the medieval origins of Paris, you’ll make your way to Notre Dame, one of largest and most famous churches in the world, and surely the most iconic example of French Gothic architecture. As you tour both the outside and inside, admiring the stained-glass windows and famed flying buttresses, your guide will share stories of the church’s construction and its restoration after it was damaged in the Revolution.
Then it’s finally time to skip the line and climb the winding staircase up the bell tower (Please make sure you choose this option when booking!). Here you’ll meet the gargoyles characterful carven water-spouts that need to be seen up close to be truly appreciated. With Paris stretching away below you, clear from Sacre Coeur to the Eiffel Tower, you’ll understand why Notre Dame is considered the heart of Paris and the center of France.
