Meet your expert guide in front of the world-famous Eiffel Tower, located on the bustling Champ de Mars in Paris. As you gaze up at this incredible monument, your guide will get you up to speed about its history: hear how it was built for a world fair (the International Exposition of 1889), and learn how the locals’ opinions of it changed from ‘eyesore’ to ‘much-loved architectural icon.’
After your introduction, leave the tourist crowds behind and head underground to a little-known bunker, directly beneath the Champ de Mars. Explore the bunker with your guide, hearing wartime tales of this secret place that so few have seen. In its early days, the Eiffel Tower was used to house army communications equipment, and at the onset of World War I, the need for an easy evacuation route became apparent. The answer was the creation of the bunker, complete with secret tunnels, in a complex underground network beneath the tower.
Head back into the daylight and on to your next behind-the-scenes site the Eiffel Tower engine room. Housing the machinery that powers the monument’s hugely important hydraulic elevators, the engine room represents the functional part of the tower’s day-to-day operations, as well as containing some beautiful infrastructure.
Take a ride in the hydraulic elevators to the 2nd level of the Eiffel Tower, home to Alain Ducasse’s prestigious Le Jules Verne restaurant. Michelin-starred, the restaurant is one of the few places in the world where top views and top food go hand in hand. Normally reserved for Eiffel Tower employees only, the restaurant’s private rooftop terrace boasts incredible panoramic views over Paris and you’ll be one of the privileged few to see them!
Your tour finishes back on the 2nd-level balcony, where you can spend as much time as you want walking around independently, taking in breathtaking views of the city. Before leaving, your expert guide will point out where you can purchase tickets for the 3rd level, should you wish to experience the Eiffel Tower from the very top!

An amazing tour with a fantastic guide. Bunker from a historical perspective very interesting. Also, being able to see the mechanical/electrical/hydraulic workings of the the Eiffel tower- something I never thought I would see. THen skip the line to the second level. Guide was with us every step of the way- so informative.
This tour is a sleeper but absolutely worth every cent!! -

We've been to Paris a number of times, but we've never known about this tour before. It's great!! You get to enter the bunker on the Champs de Mars and see a lot of history there. Then you go inside the workings of the tower and see the huge piston and the two accumulators at work. Even if you're not an engineer, like my husband, you'll be impressed. One thing was a little confusing, though. In the information, it said you wouldn't get priority entrance into the tower itself. That's not true. You do get priority entrance into the tower, just not to the top.
I highly recommend this tour to those who have never been to the Eiffel Tower and to those who've been and never thought of going again. This is a great reason to visit the Grand Dame again.

Excellent tour, very interesting. Apart from the bomb scare which delayed us and created some extra excitement, this was a great way to see the tower and skip the very long lines.

Been to the Eiffel tower a number of times and this was the best, most amusing visit ever.

A great way to see the Eiffel Tower, especially during the busy summer months. We still had a little wait, but nothing like the general admission line.

My husband and I really enjoyed this tour. Our tour guide Annabelle was extremely knowledgeable and tailored the tour to everyone for example including the younger kids in answering questions. The bunker and engine rooms are a neat addition to see to the Eiffel tower. It was a bit hard to hear Annabelle at times--would recommend that the tour company look at investing in the wireless microphone/headsets that we used on some of our other tours. Overall, a great tour!
