Travel around the earthquake-scarred south coast to see the ruins of the Wahine ferry disaster and the distant ranges of the South Island, overlooked by the coasters' houses perched on the steep, rocky hills. Enjoy the views of the harbor and Matiu Sommes Island, a deceptively pretty place where prisoners of war were quarantined during World War II.
Enjoy panoramic views of Wellington city and harbor from the top of Mt Victoria. Take a trip on the cable car, a charming and picturesque transport that is one of the few surviving in the world.
In Thorndon, New Zealand's oldest suburb, visit the magnificent Parliament buildings and gorgeous Old St Paul's Cathedral. See the famous Beehive, the seat of government.

Small tour turned out to to a personal tour, just me and my wife. Grant, our driver, was very knowledgeable of the area and it’s history. We got outside the city and had tea and pastry at a seaside cafe. We saw “Wellewood” and the film making area of town and some wonderful views of the harbor. We went downtown and rode the sky lift and Grant dropped up off to do some shopping before catching the shuttle back to the ship. Really packed a lot of sightseeing into half a day. Not very strenuous physically for those who have some trouble getting around but want to see a lot of the city.

This was excellent, just four couples from our ship. The guide took us all over Wellington, stopping at various sites, treated us to a coffee, tea, or soda and something sweet to eat. We could easily ask questions and felt we'd really seen Wellington.

Our guide Craig told us from the beginning that he doesn't usually do this specific tour...but it didn't matter. He did a tremendous job tailoring the tour to focus on the things we wanted to see.
