    After pickup at your hotel in Rotorua, travel about15 minutes to the kayaking headquarters where your expert guide provides a safety talk and paddle instructions. Once you’re ready, grab your gear and head to the launch site at nearby Lake Rotoiti.
    Follow your guide as you paddle at a leisurely pace across the picturesque Lake Rotoiti, gliding past holiday homes that dot the lakeshore. Hear the history of the area from your knowledgeable guide, including local Maori legends, and facts about native plant life such as the Pohutukawa, aka New Zealand's version of the Christmas tree.
    Within an hour or so, arrive at a lakeside spot that features natural hot springs! The thermal waters feed into several hot pools of varying temperatures. Enjoy more than two hours to relax here, soaking weary muscles in the hot springs and swimming in the lake. Then tuck into a picnic barbecue dinner that might include steak, gourmet sausages, a choice of salads, and a cheesecake dessert.
    As evening starts to fall, return to your kayak and paddle to a cave that is accessible only by boat. Inside, take in the surreal beauty of hundreds of glowworms shimmering on the walls around you, then hit the homestretch of your kayak trip with a 30-minute paddle back to the boat launch.
    Sometimes Koura (small freshwater crayfish) can be spotted.
    Head back to headquarters where you can change into dry clothing.
    You are returned to your Rotorua hotel after a magical evening on Lake Rotoiti.

    We had to chang the date of our tour because of low demand the day we first selected, but we were able to do it and totally worth it.

    Highly recommend this excursion.
    Initial kayak paddle was slightly difficult against the wind.
    The hot springs were fun and there was opportunity to swim in the lake too..warm!
    Tasty BBQ meal.
    By the time we headed to the cave it was dusk and calm on the water. An amazing experience paddling on a quiet calm lake at night...topped off by seeing the glow worms
    Highly recommend.

    Be ready for quite a ride around the cave. Our guide was amazing and made a wonderful bbq for us.
    Prepare yourself for the exertion of the event and be in good physical shape ready to take on the lake.
    The day we went out it was a bit choppy but when we got back it was a bit dark and much calmer.

    The only reason I rated it so low is that we had it scheduled, and they apparently didn't have enough to run the trip. However, we went on the rafting trip from the same vendor, which was great.

    Amazing day/evening on Lake Rotoiti, really enjoyed the kayaks, hot pools and BBQ. Would high recommend this to others. Note that we went with our 6 year old who loved it.

    This was an incredible tour. Justin was amazing. Kayaking across the lake, hot springs, the sunset, glow worm caves, and a fantastic barbecue. We had a fantastic time. I recommend this evening tour on the water to everyone. Don't miss this fantastic trip and extremely fun outing.
