Start the day with hotel pick up 9am and travel on one of the most scenic drives in New Zealand to Glenorchy at the western end of Lake Wakatipu. Not far from there, venture onto Private Property, a 20,000 acre (8,093 hectares) sheep and beef farm where you gain access up 4WD trails into the heart of Middle Earth from
Lord of the Rings.
Your first stop there is in the "front row" overlooking Isengard from
Lord of the Rings. Take a short walk into a native beach forest, a tranquil moment in this mountain setting. This is the ultimate photography location elevated above the Dart River with views over Mt. Aspiring National Park to snow-capped mountains beyond.
At lunchtime, have a picnic lunch on the mountain or a cafe lunch at Kinloch nestled by the lake shore a beautiful peaceful setting. The afternoon is spent further exploring a trail above Diamond Lake, there is the opportunity for some walking and an opportunity to see farm activities should they be available on the day. A visit to the sheep shearing woolshed is a must where once a year 5,000 sheep are shorn, numerous farm animals are sprinkled across this amazing home for them called the Paradise Valley.
Venturing further up the valley beyond Diamond Lake, see the majestic Arcadia Homestead and further movie locations from the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit movies before returning via Glenorchy to Queenstown. This was an excellent tour!!! Charles --drove us thru the ridiculously breath taking and most beautiful places safely, We spent time for lovely scenic pictures and he shared with us the Lord of the Rings stories. The tour to the farm was great too. He showed us the native birds and the farm animals. Over all it was a great tour

Priceless moments! Our private day tour with Eric on a 4WD to the Paradise Valley, diamond lake, the private farms at Mt. Earnslaw station, ISenguard, walking up the Routeburn track was simply fabulous...The 4WD drive up the slate quarry was the icing on the cake, something that cannot be done in a large group and vehicle and was spectacular. It was just our family and the guide and was a distinct experience that everyone must try.
We snapped several pictures at the scenic locations where Lord of the Rings was filmed. Eric was awesome - patient and extremely accommodating without rushing the sightseeing and gave us insights on the various spots and trees. I still remember the Horopito spicy plant... In my opinion this private tour experience on a 4WD should never be missed by one! -
Charles was an excellent guide? He took us way off the beaten path to areas with absolutely stunning scenery. What a great day!

Queenstown and the surrounding area are extremely picturesque and beautiful, and this tour allowed us to see these sights up close and personal. Through this tour, our guide was able to give us access to private farmland and take us to working sheep farms and sights that we wouldn't have been able to see through other tours. Fans of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogies will enjoy this tour as well, as you will be taken to different film locations for the movies. Be prepared to be bounced around though. The terrain can be a little bumpy.

The best part was the flight the vigorous walk for 7 miles hard but good the guide made it easy The lunch was a joke but the boat ride was great

Loved the private tour and commentary about everything. Got great insight on a private mountain and checked out some really amazing views. Totally worth it and our driver Charles was hilarious!
