Your tour will commence with a courtesy pickup from your Christchurch accommodation and following a short transfer, you will arrive at the Willowbank Wildlife Reserve. Here you’ll join a guided Kiwi wildlife tour with a knowledgeable and passionate park warden. Enjoy seeing many native and introduced birds and animals while you listen to interesting facts and stories. See New Zealand’s national bird the kiwis in their natural habitat. This endangered species is unique to New Zealand!
Next, enjoy a magical experience as you engage with authentic Maori culture. Your memorable evening will see you participating in a series of events that recreate the traditional Maori lifestyle. From the opening Powhiri (or greeting ceremony) to the closing Waiata (songs) you will feel inspired and entertained while admiring a fantastic dance performance and learning how this ancient population lived across centuries. And what better way to conclude your night than with a traditional 4-course Hangi meal at the Willowbank restaurant?

Have done this twice and both times it was very interesting. The second time was a little different but still very good. The food was good too and staff were very friendly. Great to see the live kiwis in their specially created habitat. A wonderful way to spend an evening

The Willowbank Wildlife Reserve was very interesting with lots of unique animals and the personal tour was really nice. The Maori concert was fun and the dinner was really good.

The tour was very informative , we enjoyed the show , the staff were were very friendly and the meal was generous however not to our liking .

we had done this several years ago and this time i found it to be quite disappointing especially the food. there was not enough for the table of ten. i would recommend willow bank to anyone but unfortunately not the concert

Very enjoyable
- The Maori performance was the best part. The dinner was average. I thought it was going to be a large group of people. The guide for the wildlife tour did not seem like he wanted to be there. And although you barely get to see Kiwi, you don't get any good pictures of them because you can't use a flash. The driver for the tours was excellent though.
- The Maori concert was a lot of fun. The meal was OK, but have had better. The Kiwi and Kea experience was excellent!
- Couldn't see much of the animals as it was dark. Concert was tops! They got everyone involved in the Maori dancing, haka experience.
- This was totally not what we expected. We were the only 2 travellers on this tour, and although we joined a larger party at Willowbank, we were seated on our own for the dinner, which was not the Maori style dinner were expecting. The Maori concert, although authentic in parts, was performed in a plastic covered outbuilding, not a traditional setting, and consisted of very few performers. The only saving grace of this tour was the visit to the kiwi house after dark and the setting of live kiwi in an almost wild setting. We could not recommend this tour.
