Journey into Middle-earth with your expert guide on a Hobbiton tour; see The Shire, Bilbo Baggins’ house and many other locations you’ll recognise from the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies. Conclude your Hobbiton tour with the unforgettable experience of tucking into a buffet style lunch outside the Green Dragon Inn. After lunch, your tour continues as you board your luxury coach and make your way to Waitomo. Upon arrival at Waitomo Glowworm Caves, embark on a guided tour through a subterranean wonderland; see stalactites and stalagmites, learn about how these limestone caves were formed and conclude your tour with a boat ride through the enchanting Glowworm Grotto. While I wished for more time in both places, there is only so much time in the day. All in all a fantastic experience, the lunch in Hobbiton was plentiful and delicious, in true Hobbit style!

We took this tour in Oct. 2016. The Hobbiton movie set was so well maintained, you thought you would see Hobbits popping out from behind a door. This tour included a very good lunch of Hobbit type food plus the detour to Waitomo Caves was nice addition to see the glow worms.

This was an amazing first day of exploring in New Zealand. Our bus driver Damian ? was Amazing!! He was almost over-the-top with the information he provided about New Zealand, including the history of the country and maori culture, current politics and core national values, and even what flavor ice-cream is popular among locals. It was really useful information to gain while visiting NZ and pretty great to have on the start of our trip so we knew things as we traveled and saw things. And of course, Hobbiton and the Waitomo Caves were both beautiful and enjoyable to visit. My only recommendation to make this tour perfect is to extend the overall time by about 15-20 minutes to allow more time to enjoy the otherwise fantastic lunch in Hobbiton. The lunch was extremely rushed for the size and type of sit-down meal. Other than that, everything was great!

Hobbiton and Waitomo were amazing. The bus driver and the local guides were super friendly and very informative. Even if your not into the movies, its still breath taking and the set is very detailed. You are bound to have fun no matter what. Waitomo was just magical. The boat ride was the highlight, its very short like 5 minutes but in those few minutes it renders you speechless. Its such a great experience and it really shows you how amazing nature is.
