Taronga Zoo is one of Sydney’s top attractions and is loved by locals and tourists alike. Located on the magnificent harbor, just 12 minutes by ferry with views of iconic landmarks this is truly a zoo with a view!
Arrive at the zoo and take the Sky Safari gondola to the top entrance. Fly above the Zoo as it skims the canopy of the Asian rainforest inhabited by Taronga's orangutans and glide across the mysterious riverscape of AGL Amazonia, home to the Zoo's South American animals.
Meet your zoo keeper and start your in-depth Wild Australia Experience that will bring you close to the animals and where you will learn about the work of the zoo keepers. Learn about the unique Australian animals and how they are cared for at the zoo, go behind the scenes into restricted access areas, see how the food is prepared in the 'animal kitchen,' and explore the world of the wallabies and kangaroos.
You will get to enter the Australian bushland and the underground world of the endangered Southern hairy-nosed wombat, discover the mysteries of the platypus, and explore the nocturnal house for a close encounter with the normally shy and elusive wildlife which only venture out at night.
At the end of your tour you'll be served a light snack at Harbourview Cafe and receive a souvenir gift.
Admission to Taronga Zoo is included so you are free to spend the day exploring the many exhibits and shows before and after your tour. Join the regularly scheduled keeper talks to learn more about Taronga Zoo's wide variety of animals.

How to get to Taronga Zoo:
The easiest way to get to the zoo is by ferry. Not only is it convenient but a great way to see the spectacular Sydney Harbour. Ferries depart from Wharf 2 at Circular Quay every 30 minutes.
Once you have arrived at Taronga Wharf, take the Sky Safari gondola for a ride high over the zoo grounds. over looking Sydney's most famous landmarks and giving you a bird's-eye view over the zoo inhabitants, ending at the top entrance of the zoo. Alternatively, take the zoo's bus shuttle that meets every ferry.
Food vendors:
The zoo offers several restaurant and cafe options, with sit-down or casual dining choices available. Taronga Zoo also has many picnic areas; you are welcome to bring your own picnic to enjoy while soaking in spectacular views overlooking Sydney Harbour.Arrive at the zoo and take the Sky Safari gondola to the top entrance. Excellent zoo where the animals are not all caged. An emu walked out onto the sidewalk to check us out when our group went past! Obviously some animals have to be confined for safety, but even those appeared to have large, natural living environments. We had an excellent guide who called all the animals by name and very obviously loved her job and her animal friends. She was extremely patient, allowing as much time as anyone wanted for pictures and even trying to get a requested animal not usually on the tour to come out of hiding in his jungle for us to see. Unfortunately it was raining and he was not interested in coming out to see us, but she did all she could.
The small group tour is definitely worth the extra cost. We learned so much about all the animals and got to hold a feather tailed glider, “pet” an echidna, and spend lots of time in a koala enclosure. You cannot touch the koalas, but you can get very close to them. They rotate groups of koalas in the tour enclosure to minimize the stress on the animals and increase the odds that you will get to see some who are awake.
Even with the rain it was an awesome experience.

The day was perfect and the staff at the zoo couldn’t be more friendly. The Wild Australia experience sealed int for me. They provided a lot of fun info about the endemic animals of Australia and made it more interactive for me than just walking around the zoo. We also had a chance to touch some of the animals.
It is so easy to get there. We just rode the ferry to mosman bay from the circular quay. Food is not good though and quite expensive. -
Visiting from California, my friend and I really wanted that unique zoo experience. This was the PERFECT opportunity to get up close and personal with the animals. Our your guide, Sam, was amazing and knew everything about the animals and answered all of our questions. Our group was small so we all had plenty of time to take pictures and really get to understand the different types of animals. So much better standing behind a fence or wall of glass. This was probably one of our favorite days here in Australia and would definitely come back again!!!!

Absolutely fabulous 2+ hours up close and personal with the Australian animals. I got to carry an echidna in a pail back to its enclosure and a koala sniffed my hat. Our guide was relaxed and casual, flexible and very open to questions. Better than I expected! Small group too. Would do it again!

Brian was a great tour guide. You can tell he really cares about the animals, and ensuring that the animal life in Australia is preserved.

We spent the day at the zoo for my daughters 16th birthday. The animals were very active. I was very pleased with the size of their habitats and how well taken care of they are. We upgraded and did a behind the scenes tour which taught us more about the zoo and their animals. Made for a great birthday adventure

We would recommend this excursion. Great way to spend your time meeting the local animals of Australia. Would book it again on another visit.

Our guide Louisa was very knowledgeable and very personable. The education from Louisa and interaction with the animals was a very unique experience for us at a zoo. I would highly recommend this experience to others visiting the zoo. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that a lot of the tour is in the general area with the general public so the other patrons that did not pay for the tour are getting the same information you are getting without paying the price. Louisa did a great job to keep our group front and center when we were in the public areas.
