Catch the ferry to Rottnest Island in either Perth or Fremantle. From Perth, cruise down the Swan River listening to informative commentary about the sights along the way. Your boat makes a short stop to pick up passengers in Fremantle before continuing on the 25-minute ride to Rottnest Island.
Upon arrival at Rottnest, enjoy exploring on your own until it’s time to meet your snorkel tour at 1:45pm or take a complimentary 20-minute guided walking tour around the main settlement of Thomson Bay. If you have chosen the lunch option, head to Rottnest Lodge at the appointed time for a selection of delicious buffet dishes with hot courses, deli items, salads, desserts, and beverages.
When you meet your snorkel guide, you'll receive the requisite gear and a safety briefing before your boat sets off for your 90-minute snorkel cruise at 1:45pm. Zip along the water in your speedy boat. Depending on the day's conditions, your group stops at either Green Island, Salmon Bay, or Catherine Bay where you have about one hour to snorkel along a pristine reef brimming with colorful fish and coral.
The waters around Rottnest Island host more than 20 species of coral and 400 species of fish, including West Australian pearl perch, baldchin groper, harlequin fish, leatherjacket, butterfly fish, moon wrasse, marlin and tuna. You might also spot crustaceans such as the Western rock lobster and blue manna.
After your snorkel tour, return to the main jetty where you have free time to relax on the beach or check out the shops in town before you catch your ferry to return to Fremantle or Perth.行程概要出發地點

Fun snorkeling tour at Rottnest Island.

A very good day from start to finish. You get there by comfortable boat and there is a commentary on board which is useful. Once on the island I opted for the high-speed tour around the island in the commando boat. Stopped to see loads of wildlife. This was not part of the Viator schedule (although Viator do a tour without the snorkelling that includes this high speed trip) but there was time to do this instead of the walk around a bit of the island. Lunch was good. Then straight back to the same guys in the same boat. Safety and the like was good: kit provided was all in good condition (short wet suits and rash vests, snorkel and mask).
There were only eight of us in the group - a good number.
The snorkelling lasted about one hour of actual in-the-water time. Well organised.
It is easy to float, face down and snorkel in sea water so don't worry too much about prior snorkelling experience but you do need to have used a snorkel before - local swimming pool? and you can't touch the bottom so you need to be able to swim.
I am a poor swimmer and novice snorkeller and I felt fine on this tour.
Home is by the ferry.
I didn't have a chance to explore the island but there is certainly enough to do there and it the island is well organised so a return trip or even a 1-2day stay would be good.
