The city is very different from Sydney. The tours were all interesting enough but it’s the little facts like the story behind the aboriginal embassy and the requirement that no building can be higher than the Parliament House and the dead kangaroos by the roadside that make the trip worthwhile.

Had a great day out seeing Canberra very well worth the visit although it is a long day but would do it again

Our bus was old, seats were uncomfortable and the wifi did not work. The bus operator asked us not to use the washroom. We stopped for coffee and were told to buy lunch as we had very little time to eat it upon arrival in Canberra. In Canberra, we visited 2 museums and a Parliament and the visits were great, albeit a bit rushed. We spend some time driving through the Embassy Row and headed back to Sydney. We stopped for dinner and the problems started. Bus driver was working on the bus and we had to wait outside in the heat on the side of the road. No wifi, in spite of assurances that it will be reset. Then, air conditioning failed few times, and came back on full blast! It was getting dark outside and our bus driver had to turn off the cabin light, because his hibeams were malfunctioning. Arriving near the airport, our bus turned onto a side road and stopped. It wasnt safe to drive and we had to get off and wait for another bus to pick us up. Our new bus driver, at first, wasnt keen on returning us to our pick up location, but we convinced him otherwise! You can walk together from the next stop, he told us. We disagreed and he reluctantly took us to the hotel. We arrived in our room at 10:30pm. Really not impressed.

Excellent experience all round - a long day but would highly recommend

Rather disappointing, to be honest. The weather didn't help rainy but it was a very long day and only interesting in parts. We enjoyed the War Memorial but would like to have stayed longer as it is actually a terrific museum with all sorts of exhibits Lancaster bomber etc.. The modern art gallery was a waste of time - something that exists in all cities and could have been done in one's own time - if required. The Parliament was also interesting. However, our guide at all 3 places was a softly-spoken local 91 year- old with a tendency to personal anecdote and rambling. We felt embarrassed at the art gallery as virtually all the coach just went off and there were just 4 of us who stuck with him - partly because it would have been so obvious if we'd left! There were other sources of irritation. We seemed to be constantly crossing paths at refreshment places with 2 other coaches who hogged all the seats and shouted at each other noisily all the time. We also got fed up with our driver reminding us repeatedly that he was legally obliged to have a break every so often. We get it! Not quite a wasted day - we saw some wild kangaroos in the fields - but very disappointing.

Be prepared for a long bus ride, however the scenery is interesting to see. You will be stopping once on the way to Canberra for a tea break. The next stop is a short stop at the top of a vista point for pictures. You will then be driven into Canberra for a tour of the War Memorial. You will have a lunch break before the tour given by a volunteer with vast knowledge of the of the memorial. After the memorial, you will be taken to the Parliament building and given a tour by the same knowledgeable volunteer. The final part of the tour is a ride through the embassy row. Then you will be on a bus for the ride back to your pickup point. Be aware that the bus is very comfortable to ride in and the driver will be talking to you about the areas you are driving through--keeping you involved in where you are going.

Beautiful Canberra! A must for history lovers. Very educational and informative. A bit tiring travel time but worth it. Tour guide/driver did his job very well.
