The coral cay of Green Island is located in a marine national park covered by lush rainforest and sandy white beaches. Magnificent coral reefs are home to colorful fish, giant clams, turtles, sea anemones and other marine life.
The Seawalker Helmet Dive is perfect for non-swimmers or anyone who might not be confident in the water. With a guide accompanying you, you’ll walk on the bottom of the ocean and get the amazing experience of seeing colorful Great Barrier Reef fish and coral up close! Your head stays dry in the helmet, allowing you to wear glasses or contacts and keep your makeup and hair dry. It takes 45-60 minutes from the start of the briefing until you’re back on dry land.
In the morning, you’ll check in at the centrally-located Reef Fleet Terminal where your Seawalker Helmet Dive time slot will be confirmed. Then board a luxurious high-speed catamaran to cruise the 15 nautical miles (27 kilometers) to Green Island.
On the way to Green Island, your crew will give a snorkeling demonstration and suggestions on how to make the most of your time at the island. Choose from a variety of activities in addition to the Seawalker Helmet Dive: glass-bottom boat tours, supervised snorkeling trips and rainforest walks.
Aboard the catamaran, you’ll be provided with morning tea or coffee, a licensed bar offers beverages all day (own expense), and a buffet lunch is served for those who have chosen the option.
If you’d like to visit Green Island Resort, you can make use of their facilities including showers, changing rooms, restrooms, shopping and equipment hire. Or take a short walk one of the trails in the national park. Canoes, sailboards, surf skis, beach chair and umbrella rentals are also available.
You’ll be returned to Cairns around 5pm to end the tour.

Outstanding experience!

This was a disorganized mess. Needed to queue for ages at the office with tickets before even getting on the boat. I was traveling solo for 2 days and figured doing a tour would be a good way to meet people. 75% of the tour was asian and there was 100's of people on the boat. There was a lot of confusion about timings of activities and where I needed to go for each activity. Customer service was minimal and at some points unfriendly, felt like I was being herded. A lot of getting on and off the boat too. Off the boat for 30mins, then back on for lunch were I was the only english speaking person, off the boat again to do helmet tour (staff there was friendly), then 30mins later back on the boat for glass boat, then off boat again for 1hour. Was really messy and lots of queuing.

This was the experience of a lifetime! I am not fond of the water and rarely swim, so this helmet dive was perfect for me! I didn't even get my hair wet! They put this heavy helmet on my head, but when I was under the water, it wasn't heavy at all! There were fish all around me and I even got photo bombed by the resident Parrotfish! It was perfect!!!

We enjoyed this full day tour to Green Island a great deal. The crew on the Big Cat was watchful and made us feel secure on our trip to and from Green Island. Omce on Green Island we went on the helmet dive and again was impressed with how the crew members were safety conscious, as well as energetic in seeing that we had a good experience. It was incredible to be on the ocean floor with many different colorful fish swimming in such close proxsimity. We also went on the glassbottom boat and got some close up views of the reef and abundant sea life. I would encourage people to go on this tour.
