The buses are equipped with a state-of-the-art technology. Guided commentary is provided throughout the tour. Enjoy the views from the open top double-decker observation level or the comfort of the climate-controlled lower level cabin. Either way, this tour allows you to enjoy Washington DC at your own pace and explore your areas of interest such as the White House, Washington Monument, and the Smithsonian. Choose from a 1- or 2-day pass to ride on an open-top, double-decker Big Bus, with commentary from your on board guide.
See the sites on the Red Loop (Official National Mall Tour) and the Blue Loop (Arlington and Georgetown tour) and this spring only, hop on our Pink Loop, dedicated to the Tidal Basin and the celebrated cherry blossoms.
Ride along the Red Loop, The official tour of the National Mall, authorized by the National Park Service and National Mall and Memorial Parks. Take in all the places that are synonymous with the nation’s Capital; The White House, U.S. Capitol, Air and Space Museum, Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, FDR Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial are just some of the iconic landmarks. Commentary provided in live guided commentary and in a choice of 8 pre-recorded languages.
The Blue Loop, the Arlington and Georgetown tour travels to parts of Virginia, once part of Washington, DC and to oldest settlement in the District. Travel over the Potomac River leaving Washington, DC behind and visiting Virginia. The tour’s main features in Virginia are Arlington National Cemetery, the Pentagon, the Observation Deck, the Key Bridge, and the US Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima Statue.) Highlights in DC include Georgetown, Old Stone House, Georgetown Harbor, the Vietnam Veterans War Memorial, and WWII Memorial. Tour is available with live-guided commentary and recorded commentary. On the Pink Loop, visitors can walk along the Tidal Basin for pictures of the trees or, if they are looking to immerse themselves in historical landmarks, they can visit the Jefferson Memorial and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial.

We used the Hop-On Hop-Off tour on a cold day and it was done well. The ride is good but the guide, Nor made the ride so much fun. After an almost trip around, we got off and went to Smithsonian Natural History and American History Museums. When we got back on Nor was again our guide and remembered us. What a treat. Negative was that when we got to end of the route and we stayed on to go to 3rd stop, the crew changed and our guide was George who was almost terrible. His comments were boring and had no emotion to them. If you were watching a training video for guides, George would have been used as an example of what should not be done.

This Big Bus is just amazing and it goes all over the city spectacular views great appreciated.

We purchased the two-day Hop-On/Off Tour and it was awful. The recorded commentary never was in line with our location so we never saw the sites being described. Due to a fiesta, the routes were changed and two routes combined for one big mess. The drivers were unfriendly and barely spoke English. We hated it so much we skipped day two and swore off this tour forever.

The Big Bus was convenient and informative. However, I felt it was way over priced for one day when we only made it to 4 museums. Guess we should have walked .... cheaper to take an Uber.

Our family of six enjoyed the convenience of transportation and explanation using the Big Bus for our WA DC tour. The bus stops were easy to access from the monuments and other site locations. Our night tour guide was very well researched and entertaining! We found Union Station, where you have to start your tour the first time and the night tour, to be a good spot for a lunch or coffee/pastry - also easy to access by metro or train.

The lady who did the verbal run down wasnt professional, too much about her personal life not enough history. The male driver wouldnt give us a card, he said we were good but find someone else to help us. A prerecorded run down would of been preferable. We had a two day with night tour and we skipped the rest. We have down hop on hop off Big bus in 4 other places, it was much better there.

The bus was very convenient . And we were able to see most of the sights. The narrator was very good.

The Big Bus tour is a great way to get a quick introduction to the many great sites in Washington DC. There are three major routes covering the most popular attractions in DC. Each bus has a live narrator who describes major sites along the route. There are designated stops along the route to allow passengers to disembark to investigate a site in depth, and to pick up passengers who want to continue along the bus route. My recent trip took place during Memorial Day Weekend. Tourism and traffic was so heavy that the 3 Big Bus routes were combined into a purple route and re-routed to avoid the heavy crowds at the National Mall. The Big Bus Hop-On Hop-Off Tour is a relaxing way to see DC.
