Discover the traditions, history, and spirit of the Chinatown-International District by stepping into one of Seattle's oldest neighborhoods. The tour immerses guests into the stories of the individuals that called this area home. Learn about the various Asian Pacific American Immigrants who have contributed to the legacy of the Chinatown-International District; while also looking at the neighborhood as a thriving community. During this tour, you will explore the hidden gems around the neighborhood and meet the community members who comprise the heart and soul of the vibrant Chinatown-International District.
This Chinatown tour begins at the Wing Luke Museum, starting with a short introduction which touches upon the history of the museum and the area. After the introduction, guests are lead to different attractions throughout the Chinatown-International District including Canton Alley Apartment no. 6, a former family residence located within the historic East Kong Yick (10-15 minutes); Tour stops are informed by the interests of the guests and tour routes may vary.
Here are examples of stops that could be included into the tour: Tsue-Chong-our local fortune cookie and noodle factory established in 1917; Hing-Hay Park-a beautiful park right in the middle of the C-ID; Public Art in the neighborhood-with pieces from artists like George Tsutakawa and Enfu; Tea Galleries-where tea can be tasted and purchased; Bakeries-taste the sweets and treats that the area has to offer; and Chinatown Gate-the regal gate that welcomes visitors into the neighborhood.
At each stop, stories are told, questions are answered and the neighborhood comes alive through history. The approximate time spent at each location is around 10 minutes.行程概要出發地點
