Your afternoon starts at Pier 33, where you will board a ferry for the short trip to Alcatraz Island, lying just 1.5 miles (2.4km) from San Francisco. Known as The Rock, Alcatraz has served as both a military and federal prison during a turbulent history that dates back to the mid-19th century. Find out more about the Island's 29 years as a federal prison on the renowned 45-minute audio tour "Doing Time", featuring the voices of actual correctional officers and prisoners who lived and worked on the Island.
While on the Island, take the time to explore the historic gardens and abundant wildlife, including Brandt’s cormorants, Canada geese and several species of songbirds. Ferries back to the mainland depart every half an hour, and the recommended visiting time to Alcatraz is 2.5 hours to 3 hours.
Upon your return to Pier 33, stroll for 0.6 miles (1km) along San Francisco's picturesque waterfront to reach bustling Fisherman's Wharf, the departure point for your sunset or twilight bay cruise. On this relaxed two-hour cruise you will enjoy spectacular sunset views and delicious appetizers to the sound of live guitar music. Informative commentary will be provided by the ship's captain as you cruise under both the Bay Bridge and Golden Gate Bridge and uncover all the major sights of the bay. Enjoy views from the outer decks, or stay warm against the crisp sea-breezes inside the spacious interior decks.

Excellent tour ,the only downside was long queues in the sun ,not enough cover for everyone waiting ,and although I booked on line with you months ago I wasn't given any choice in the time of my tour Al bough your confirmation gave several available times ,so that wasn't good as it really messed up our day and my sister and I are both seniors and found the day very long as we ended up with one of the last times

We really enjoyed our trip to Alcatraz and also the Sunset Bay Cruise. Both were very good and just enough time between the tours to explore the Pier area in San Francisco.

On Day 4, we went to Alcatraz the Rock. If you stay at any hotel in the Fishermans Wharf area, you will see this island. You cant leave without going here. Plus the pictures from Alcatraz of Downtown San Francisco or the Golden Gate Bridge are pretty awesome. Later that evening about 7pm, we took a Sunset Bay Cruise which served food around the Bay and sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge. This was about 96 per person. I will say that you may want to make reservations for the Alcatraz tour about a 2 month out.

The Alcatraz tour is worth going to see, though it would be challenging for some given the steep inclines required to traverse to get to the jail section. We had good weather and not too many people, so access to the boat, and most areas of the island was easy. The audio tour is excellent and worth the price on its own

Very efficient boat transfer, lauding cell block tour very interesting but a lot of island is under repair and restricted

The Alcatraz tour was ok and informative. The views of the city from Alcatraz were fantastic.
The Sunset Bay cruise was fabulous and should not be missed. A buffet dinner desserts very good and 2 drinks with chez mix snacks were included. It was the highlight of my San Francisco visit.

We were glad to of booked with viator before we left home as no tickets for Alcatraz were available for at least 3 weeks!
We had no tour guide but the explanation for picking up tickets was clear and worked out well. The timed ferry worked out and is only a short journey, we had the audio tour which is really good and has people who were their explaining facts and what life was like.
The cruise was good and the Buffett was a lot more than we expected with sandwiches, salad,fruit and cookies a good selection. You got to see some good views as well as the bridge passing by and going under. -
Absolutely brilliant tour of Alcatraz so much history and the audio tour is so informative.
Sunset cruise of the Bay Area is stunning with the views of the Golden Gate Bridge phenomenal.
Would recommend these two tours as excellent , also the food on the sunset tour and bar facilities were A Grade. -
Alcatraz Landing and Sunset Bay Cruize was just the best, loved every minute. Best Package on the Bay.
