The first bus that came to the unclear stop said there would be a 1.5 hour wait if we were at the stop and the bus was too full for us. They suggested going to another stop, so we had to pay for an Uber there. On the bus, we then learned what time the Night Tour was because it was not published online and when we called the night before, we couldn't get an answer on the time from an agent. Very disappointed. Paid for a 2 day tour with night tour and trip to Sausalito, but Sausalito wasn't available the day we were in town either.

Tanaya was the worst guide ever! She spoke too fast, didn't enunciate her words and used terms that I took offense to. She was neither informative, didn't stay to the script, and she was apathetic and lazy. The other guides were informative, intelligent, engaging and most of all, I learned from their tour.

  • Caitlin M (2015-09-09)1

This tour was AWFUL! I wouldn't recommend this tour to anyone.

The worst part of the tour was our tour guide. Not only did she YELL into the microphone the entire time, but she did not share any real facts about the city. Her idea of live tour narration was word vomiting her stream of consciousness, which included rants about how expensive it was to live in SF and how her taxpayer dollars weren't being spent appropriately. She even ranted about dead people for several minutes!

In addition, there were no top level seats available when we got on the bus, so we had to sit on the bottom. This would have been fine except for the fact that there was absolutely no AC and no windows on the bottom! It was so incredibly hot and stuffy!

We went one stop on this bus and got off as soon as we could.

I would NOT recommend this bus tour!!

Where to start...maybe with false advertising? Transport by air-conditioned coach means air-conditioned coach. I have no idea if the driver has A/C, but the lower half of the bus did not. More false advertising in the bus schedule of Apr 15 - Oct 31: every 15 minutes, 8:30am - 5pm. The tour guide announced that, because only 2 busses were running on 9/6, pickups would probably be about 40 minutes apart.

Of course, this requires you to actually be able to get on the bus when one finally comes. Stop 3, where we tried to get on, is as follows: Stop 3: Ghirardelli Square / Aquatic Park
Beach Street and Larkin, by the Maritime Museum. First problem is that the Maritime Museum is at Beach St. and Polk. St.. Second problem is that there are NO SIGNS telling you where to wait. We tried to flag down multiple busses to no avail. I called the number and finally got help from someone who seemed annoyed to have to pick up the phone.

Finally, assuming you manage to find a bus, get on it, escape from hades that is the lower half, and work your way to the top, only the front of the bus has speakers. I missed most of what the guide said and I was halfway back.

I enjoy bus tours, and have taken them successfully in multiple cities. This one, hands down, was the worst.

  • Julia B (2015-09-09)2

Tour ran over an hour behind, so we almost missed our boat tour that we had booked after partially because we stopped for 15-20 minute at one point for what looked like a smoking break for the driver. Traffic seemed normal, so I don't think that was part of the problem unless they plan for no traffic, which isn't ever a thing in SF. Foreign language support was also only available for a very small section of the tour, so for most of it, people who were planning to use it could not. Manager who we talked to when we boarded knew nothing about the tour. She told us that we'd have to get off to exchange our tickets at a different stop, but once we got on board, we were able to do it there like stated on the website. Stops are good and being able to exchange our vouchers on board we good.

One guide was difficult cult to hear but the others were great

  • Sharon H (2015-09-06)4

Great way to see the city

  • Bruce G (2015-09-04)4

When I was sitting on the top of the bus it was hard to hear the tour guide. The hop on hop off was great. I got to see a lot of sights in San Francisco.

  • joycelynrasberry (2015-09-03)5

Got to see so much and the tour guide were knowledgable. We'll worth the cost.

  • Jason C (2015-09-01)4

Tour was great, switching names of traveler was not so easy. Had to email and wait, and then eventually called in and spent time waiting on hold. There should be an option of putting in the traveler's name at time of purchase. Thanks!
