Growing grapes is hard work, as is making wine. Yet dedicated and passionate agricultural entrepreneurs in Virginia have answered the call. This winery tour of Virginia's Blue Ridge was created for fun and to help support and expand appreciation for this ancient craft, right here in Virginia's beautiful Blue Ridge region. Allow your guide to escort you to visit local farm wineries where you'll taste wines, go behind the scenes to explore vineyards and wine making facilities, learn the basics of wine making ("Wine Making 101"), and uncover the legacy of Virginia's wine history.
Ever wondered how red wines get their color? Or why some wines made from red grapes are white? What does the term "terrior" mean anyway? Why is Virginia's climate so challenging for growing grapes? Whether you're a casual wine drinker or a sommelier, you're sure to enjoy a tour of local farm wineries, lively wine conversation, and the opportunity to sample the work of local wines artisans. Your local guide will share their knowledge and enthusiasm for the local wine scene. Chances are you'll meet some of those involved in helping to make Virginia a top 10 Wine Destination in the U.S.
Start off with a glass of wine at the starting location, then visit 2 vineyard/wineries, where at least 6 wine tastings are included at each winery, plus a glass of wine of your selection, round trip transportation, guided tour of the winery, Wine Making 101 and other information. Water and light bagged snacks are provided.
Maximum of 14 per tour. A minimum of 4 guests are require for a tour. If a tour is cancelled due to low registration a full refund will be issued.
