Visit Statue of Liberty and Lower Manhattan in one day and eat the food New York City is famous for while doing it! Start with a New York bagel and a short walk to Battery Park for priority boarding and ride the ferry to the Statue of Liberty.On Liberty Island, tour the grounds and have an opportunity for great photos of Lady Liberty and the NYC skyline while your guide tells you all about the national landmark. Then return to the ferry for a short trip to Ellis Island.
On Ellis Island you will get to know the immigrants that made the long, dangerous and uncertain voyage to America and arrive at what would soon become the most recognizable symbol of immigration in the United States. You'll tour the grounds, go inside the building and walk in the footsteps of the immigrants that landed here. Your guide will share stories about what it was like for them to proceed through the required inspections and examinations leading to the moment when the hopeful immigrants would learn the outcome of their quest to become Americans.
Return by ferry to Manhattan and visit the Financial District, Wall Street, the New York Stock Exchange, Federal Hall, Trinity Church, the Federal Reserve Bank, the 9/11 Memorial and surrounding area including, St Paul's Chapel.
After passing the iconic Brooklyn Bridge you'll move through what was once the notorious Five Points slum, featured in the film Gangs of New York. You'll hear how parts of that slum turned into two of NYC's most iconic neighborhoods, Little Italy and Chinatown. It's here that you'll enjoy the great foods that New York is famous for: Chinese dumplings, award-winning pizza, Italian delicacies from one of NYC's oldest Italian eateries and a delicious cannoli or cheese cake.
While you savor the tastes you'll visit locations where classic Hollywood movies and TV shows were made, such as The Godfather and The Sopranos. Plus you'll get an up-close look at some of the headquarters and hangouts of infamous real life gangsters, like Al Capone, “Lucky" Luciano, Bugsy Siegal, Meyer Lanskky & John "The Teflon Don" Gotti.
