Enjoy the local treasures of Brooklyn on a 4.5-hour tour that departs near Union Square in Manhattan. Sit back and relax in a climate-controlled coach that takes you across the Manhattan Bridge for an afternoon filled with fun trivia, gorgeous scenery, and a delicious lunch in the second-largest area of the Big Apple!
Learn about one of the oldest US suburbs on your first stop in Brooklyn Heights. Marvel at brownstone architecture in one of the largest neighborhoods of pre Civil War homes in the nation. Afterward, stretch your legs during a 15-minute break at the Promenade, a popular local spot with views of the East River, Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline.
Back on the coach, pass by Truman Capote’s home, where he penned In Cold Blood and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Other famous locales include Plymouth Church of the Pilgrims, the home used in the film Moonstruck, and Hotel St George, as seen in The Godfather. Watch selected scenes on your onboard monitors as your guide shares fun facts about these movies.
Stop for a one-hour lunch at the original Junior’s on Flatbush Avenue, a Brooklyn institution since 1950, where you’ll sink your teeth into a pastrami sandwich before satiating your sweet tooth with a slice of their famous cheesecake. Wash it down with a fizzy egg-cream soda (similar to a fountain drink) that has been featured on Oprah.com.
After lunch, travel up Flatbush Avenue to see Brooklyn Academy of Music, the new Barclays Center, Grand Army Plaza, the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch, Brooklyn Library, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Ebbets Field, the former home of the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Continue through the neighborhoods of Park Slope and Windsor Terrace to ogle more of the borough’s finest architecture. Arrive at the historic Green-Wood Cemetery, the 478 acre cemetery located at the highest point in elevation in Brooklyn, for a brisk walk to its Gothic-style Historic Chapel. The National Historic Landmark once rivaled Niagara Falls as the nation’s top tourist attraction. You’ll see why as you pass marble sculptures and the granite monuments of late Civil War soldiers, stained-glass mausoleums and the serene Green-Wood Chapel.
Your tour ends with a drive through the Victorian Flatbush. Ornate Victorian homes line the streets near Ditmas Park, a surprising architectural treat in the heart of Brooklyn. From there, watch a montage of Brooklyn’s famous residents on your way back to Manhattan.行程概要出發地點
