New York Water Taxi
Board your sleek and fast water taxi at any of its four stops (see Itinerary for a list). Relax for the complete 1.5-hour journey through New York Harbor and part of the East River and Hudson River, admiring breathtaking vistas of the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, Governors Island, the Empire State Building and Times Square. Or hop on and off at any of the stops to visit popular attractions such as the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, Wall Street, Battery Park, the Museum of Jewish Heritage and South Street Seaport.

Double-Decker Sightseeing Bus

I can see why Big Bus and NY Water Taxi are the two preferred companies for touring NYC- the buses are newer than the other tour bus tours and it is nice to have live guides telling stories every guide adds their own urban legends or personal experiences, and they all talk about some different aspects of the city, so you never feel like you're doing the same tour twice. I recommend it, especially for the first-time visitor or for those who want to spend less time in the subway. Easy way to get from Harlem to Times Square and hop off at museums and Central Park- the water taxi is especially good for Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. I don't understand why people were bothered by the ticket agents you just keep walking people are always trying to sell you stuff in NYC get used to it. If you buy your ticket in advance it saves you hassle. Some people have said the boat made them feel sick- I was on it four different days, all of which were quite breezy and if those conditions make people seasick I wouldn't want to see them on a 10-day cruise... best for people who are that prone to motion sickness to avoid boats altogether.

Hop-on/hop-off bus tours are the only way to see a big city and Big Bus does it right.
We loved the exposure to many sights and scenes we wouldn't have seen otherwise. The combined cruise package us well worth the cost. I wouldn't begin to see a foreign city anymore without first doing a bus tour. -

we booked our tour on the internet because we thought we can save money. However we
could have purchased the same tour for $ 20.00 less when we got there. I recommend to purchase your tours on the spot. the tour was just ok. -
Both tours were excellent. We had one of the best tour guides I've ever had on the boat. The Hop-On Hop-Off was a great tour. They even had complimentary rain ponchos so we could still sit on the top open part. The only negative is that at Stop #1 where we had to change buses for the Uptown route it was VERY disorganized. No one seemed to know what bus was going where and it took almost 45 min to get a bus that was going Uptown.

Bus tour was fantastic. The tour guide was very helpful and took pictures of us in front of the Statue of Liberty. The ticket agent at the terminal had to ask what to do with the Viator vouchers.
Did not like the the bus very much. We went from the boat to "TRY" and find a stop for the bus. Another local tour operator finally helped us show where they would stop. The bus stops are not marked so we had to keep asking. Once on the bus, the bus driver said we had to exchange the tickets we had at their main office. We had already exchanged our vouchers at the boat terminal and received 4 tickets. There was confusion about the exchanging process. The bus driver did finally allow us on the bus and when we stopped at Times Square, we were told to get off and see one of the agent. By then it was raining and we got back on the bus and no one got off at any of the stops and rode the whole route back to the beginning. The passengers commented to the tour guide about the heat on the bus. She was sort of annoying with some of her comments and singing. I was so glad to get off of that bus even that it meant I had to get wet. We spent way too much time trying to find a bus after getting off the boat and did not get to utilize the bus features. It's a new company and I found they were not well organized. By the time we got on the bus at Times Square, there was only time for 1 complete round trip on any route before they ended their day. The other hop ons end times were much later. I would not recommend this bus. -
The place where you have to redeem your vouchers is not the easiest to get to. It is a very long walk in the not the best of neighborhoods to get from Times Square to the depot. Take a cab to the redemption depot. The Taxi Company needs to figure out a better way that people can redeem their vouchers. Tour guide on the water taxi itself was good.
