Your tour starts at Battery Park, where you'll get a little context for your upcoming visits by exploring the memorials around the park, which rarely get the attention they deserve by visitors rushing to catch the ferry. Spend some time at the Castle Clinton National Monument, Pier A Harbor House, the American Merchant Mariner’s Memorial, the Sphere, and New York Korean War Veteran’s Memorial.
Then it’s off to Liberty Island with priority boarding to get the best seats on the ferry; because you're leaving early (often on the first ferry, depending on the time of year), you’ll arrive at the Statue of Liberty before the crowds. Once there, enjoy stunning views of the city and take a guided tour that leads you right up to the pedestal, getting you closer to Lady Liberty than the standard visit.
Here, your guide tells you a little about the city’s greatest icon. Gifted to the US by France and designed by their finest architects, including Gustav Eiffel (whose Parisian tower you may be familiar with), Lady Liberty wasn’t as warmly received as you might think. Hear all about the struggle that got her on her feet and eventually became dear to the people of New York.
Then return to the ferry for the cruise over to Ellis Island, where you’ll follow in the footsteps of 12 million immigrants. From your guide, learn about the lengthy immigration process they went through, walking the Stairs of Separation to understand the island’s two very different names, ‘The Island of Hope’ and ‘The Island of Tears.' Explore the museum’s impressive collection of interactive displays, and ask your guide any questions you have before your tour ends here; you can stay a little longer if you’d like, or head back to the ferry with your guide to return to Manhattan.
With small groups of 20 people or fewer and early morning ferries to the islands, your tour is typically quiet and relaxed, removing the hassles of the average visit. Esther our guide was full of great information but didn't overload us with too much at once. It was well paced and we felt very special.

What was particularly valuable in taking the small-group early-access tour was the ability to breeze through the security lines without much delay (because we were there first thing in the morning before it became really crowded), and having the benefit of someone who could not only tell you the facts about the statue and Ellis Island, but could really evoke a SENSE of what people experienced and felt when they arrived in America. From the moment we were greeted by our tour guide, Alvaro, I felt we were in good hands and I was not disappointed! Alvaro was very knowledgeable and gave us hints about how to maximize our experience during each step of the tour. He gave us just enough information through his engaging story-telling style while giving us plenty of opportunity to experience things in our own way. I highly recommend this as a great experience!

Our guide Sharee was very good. She kept us aware of our surroundings and was very knowledgeable
about both the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. We are native New Yorkers but Sharee taught us a lot more about these monuments. She is also is a good photographer and gave good photography tips. -

Jacob did a wonderful job guiding our tour, with all sorts of historical facts and tidbits. He really brought the history to life, making it more interesting for our teens I particular. We highly recommend this! (We also did the 9 a.m. tour so it wouldn’t be so busy, which was a good call.)

Our guide Colin was very informative, he told us loads of history facts. When the tour ended, we asked about the hard hat trip Colin went out of his way to show us were we could and also a bit of info on it. Enjoyed immensely from beginning to end 'd

Our guide was Alvaro, a gentle, caring and professional guide, one of best guides I recall. I recommend this tour for the historical and emotional value. Excellent for the organization.

The guide talked and talked and talked and was not willing to let the group wander on their own. It was VERY CLEAR that most of us were done with her talking...... she kept going and going and going.....BORING!

Aside from some confusion over where to meet, the tour was flawless. Our guide, Jacob was informative and funny. Gave the right amount of information without overndoing it. And his picture taking abilities were great. Who else would lay down on the concrete in the freezing cold to take individual pictures of each group to also capture Lady Liberty??? There were several folks in our group who had some mobility challenges and he always looked out for them to make sure their experience was good. Booking tip...early access is the only way to go. The crowds were insane later in the day. The pedestal tour is great. There is an elevator that takes you 99% of the way leaving only 26 stairs to climb.
