Meet at the Newport Visitors Center at your chosen time to begin your drive along Newport’s renowned Ocean Drive (also known as 10-Mile Drive). Throughout your comfortable drive by bus, your expert guide will provide interesting stories, facts and historical anecdotes about this treasured stretch of road.As you’ll learn, Ocean Drive dates back to the 1800s, when many wealthy New Yorkers escaped to Newport on Rhode Island during the hot summers. Large resorts were built along the Newport Harbor beaches/waterfront to accommodate the wealthy summer crowd, which grew every year, until finally the 10-mile (16-km) stretch of coastline became the summer's place to be.Travel past Bellevue Avenue’s magnificent mansions and, if weather permits, stop on Narragansett Avenue for a walk down the Forty Steps at Cliff Walk. Then, wind toward the oceanfront past some of the area’s most elite properties.On Ochre Point Avenue, pass historic estates and The Breakers mansion, the grandest of Newport's summer houses and a US National Historic Landmark. This was a symbol of the Vanderbilt family's social and financial power at turn of the century.Passing Gooseberry Beach, approach the Newport Country Club, Brenton Point State Park and the Inn at Castle Hill. You’ll also see Hammersmith Farm Jackie Kennedy’s summer home and Fort Adams, where the views are spectacular.Admire boats bobbing along the water at the New York Yacht Club and Ida Lewis Yacht Club, and pass historic King Park at the southern end of Newport Harbor and the Newport Harbor Walk.Other highlights along Ocean Drive include Beacon Rock, Rough Point, Belcourt Castle, Chateau-sur-Mer, Isaac Bell House, the Newport Naval Academy and Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House the oldest house in Newport.You’ll make several stops along the way to take photos, soak up the scenery, and learn some history from your guide. Thought we would be able to get out of the closed windowed van to take some pictures. we did have one stop at Fort Adams....we were picked up late 11:05 am, and dropped off early 12:25 pm. The microphone was not in good repair so I asked for the speaker to shut it off. We could hear her fine as there were only 4 of us in the van. It was nice not to have to drive around the area ourselves.

We enjoyed our van tour of the area and our tour guide was very pleasant and knowledgeable. We didn't realize that we purchased a tour that had only 1 opportunity to get out and that was only at Ft. Adams and not at the Cliffs or any of the houses. Next time we will make sure we take a tour that includes getting out to see any of the houses.

The tour was exactly what we paid for, a scenic view of Neport. Our driving was pleasant, well informed and a good driver. I would have liked to see this tour paired with a visit to one of the mansions.

We booked a tour of the Breakers and the Marble House and a bus tour of the mansions. The driver was terrific with lots of informative and funny stories. Our tour was in a little van type vehicle and was just myself and my friend so we got lots of attention. The Mansion tours were unbelievable....just gorgeous,

Driver was very limited in his knowledge, and very inappropriate at times. It was almost uncomfortable at times listening to him. The last 45 minutes we just wanted to be off the bus, not enjoyable.

Our tour guide literally did not know simple facts and actually told us wrong information we googled two names after. He mumbled in a monotone voice and pulled over to read boring facts or just read the sign like everyone else can?!?!? I wish i did the trolley tour or any other. I wanted my kids to learn about Newport and they were bored. Waste of time and money!
