產品介紹
This is an off-the-beaten path, away from large tourist crowds, small group tour. A 14 passenger tour van and excellent driver/guide pick you up at your New Orleans hotel and narrate the scenic 90-minute drive out of New Orleans.
Ride along the shores of Lake Pontchartrain and prepare for a pilgrimage back in time to the Antebellum South. There will be a scenic crossing of the Mississippi River on a high suspended bridge. Then you'll take a short ride upriver to Whitney Plantation's Louisiana Museum of Slavery. Recently opened to the public, it exposes the harsh realities and raw historical facts of this dark side of American history. The 90-minute guided tour includes a short video detailing the history of this mansion from 1790 followed by a guided walking tour of the restored buildings and museum. The restored plantation outer buildings, exhibits, slave narratives, and memorial artwork recreate the world of a pre-Civil War sugar plantation and the lives of the slaves who lived, worked, and died there.
A short ride through sugar cane fields brings you to St. Joseph Plantation, a Creole style, family-owned working sugar cane plantation since 1877. The one-hour tour gives you a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the many interesting people who have called this plantation 'home.' Many tours are guided by family members themselves. It is a relaxed, intimate visit to an ancestral home, grounds, and dependencies (including original slave cabins). The movie 12 Years A Slave was filmed there. Driving back to your New Orleans hotel takes 90 minutes. Lunch is not included but snacks and drinks can be purchased at both gift shops.
On Tuesdays, Whitney Plantation is closed and replaced by Evergreen or Laura Plantation. On Wednesdays, St. Joseph Plantation is closed and replaced by Evergreen or Laura Plantation.行程概要出發地點

This is a one of a kind Plantation, a must see. Our guide did a fantastic job! Amazing place, very educational. At times the information is hard to hear, but through education we gain understanding. They've done a great job putting together content. The statues are phenomenal. They add so much feeling to what you are learning. Our guide mentioned they have a lot of school group tours. I'm so happy they are teaching real life history and not sugar coating what happened so our kids will strive to treat all people with respect and dignity.

We really enjoyed this tour, it was a good overview of two very different in presentation plantations. We took our two sons 16 and 11 as well. Our guide/driver was great- provided a lot of interesting details about New Orleans, how the area was impacted by Katrina, and an overview of the plantations we passed along the way. The drive was about 45 minutes each way from New Orleans. The St. Joseph plantation was a more traditional tour, with restored house, period furnishings and the plantation guide provided a lot of information on the various families that had lived there. The Whitney Plantation tour is set up to inform visitors about the enslaved people who lived on this particular plantation as well as to honor those who were slaves on neighboring and other Louisiana plantations. There are some original cabins and other working quarters here as well. Very little information exists on the individuals who were enslaved here, so this is more of a general presentation that includes the oral histories of those who were able to recount their experiences in the early 1900's. We found this tour very worthwhile and would definitely recommend it.

John was an excellent tour guide. He gave us a lot of interesting facts about a lot of things along the trip. Seeing the plantations was a great experience.

It was a good trip but would of liked a bit more time especially at Whitney Plantation, we were rushed towards the end to get back to the bus??
-
It was very informative. St Joseph still operated by the family portray a light view of slavery, which Whitney gave all the history of slavery. The guide was very informative and when ask the question about shared cropping, she didn't sugar coat the fact it was still a form of slavery.
-
Both of these plantations had interesting and informative stories to tell. I could have spent more time at the Whitney Plantation to study the history of the slaves.
-
Extremely well organised and informative

This was a very interesting and informative tour. We were picked up on time and the driver gave us a great commentary on the way to the plantations. The Mouring Tour at the St. Joseph Plantation was very interesting and the Whitney Museum is something that every American should see. The tour was thought provoking and memorable.

What a fantastic tour! It was nice being in such a small group and the tour guide was very knowledgable and gave a lot of good information during the trip to/from the plantations. It was nice to learn about the plantations from a slaves perspective and very moving. I would recommend this tour to everyone!

Really great tour I want to say his name was Billy? Or I know it started with a B but he was really great you can tell he loves his city and he was very nice. I prefer Whitney over St Joseph ..
