Treme' (pronounced Tre-May) sits adjacent to the French Quarter and is the oldest African-American neighborhood in the United States. Treme' is a vibrant area steeped in music and culture. Come explore this iconic gem and revel in New Orleans Jazz history with its roots in Congo square and Storyville, the birthplace of such Jazz greats as Alphonse Picou and Trombone shorty.
Treme' was originally settled by Free People of Color; often referred to as Creoles, whose unique experience helped shape the civil rights movement. The tour was amazing! We learned about the architecture, everyday lives of the people, politics, and the important and historic role that Trend served during the U.S. Civil Rights Movement. Ducky was our tour guide and he was great, providing insightful stories and a little humor along the way.

Our guide Stella was great. I loved her enthusiasm and the amount of knowledge of the area she had. Lots of history, interesting homes and places.

The guide was fantastic. She was very informative. I would have like to stop into the small jazz museum that was pointed out and including a conversation with one of the Chief Mardi Gras Indians would make this tour a 5 Star.
Overall I was happy with 5he 3xperience.

I'd give this one 5 1/2! Ducky was one of the most excellent tour guides we have EVER had, and we do tour when we travel. A native, knowledgeable, friendly gent - full of information above and beyond, and articulate. Didn't talk down to us, listened and responded, what more can I say - he was great, this tour was terrific, very informative.

Really fun and informative tour. Stella was a great guide and gave us just the right combo of history, personal anecdotes from her actual time there and fun info related to the music and culture.

I really enjoyed the tour. It is a great way to spend a few hours and get some great context / history for Treme' and New Orleans in general. Justin was very knowledgeable and personable. We asked him a lot of questions and he was on point -- he knows what he is talking about. And he knows everyone in the neighborhood. If you want a relatively quick tour and are interested in New Orleans history, this is a must.

Loved this Tour and our guide was fabulous with so much knowledge to share which she did with such passion. Would recommend this tour to everyone as the architecture in this area is just so beautiful and if you love the HBO Treme series you even get to see DJ Davis' house which is such a treat! Go, you won't be disappointed.
