Meet your guide at the corner of Royal and Conti Streets in the French Quarter 30 minutes prior to tour to start your voodoo and cemetery walking tour of New Orleans. As you stroll through the streets of the French Quarter, learn about New Orleans history and the classic architecture around the city.
Walk by shotgun homes ─ one of the most popular styles of Southern homes in the early 1860s ─ as well as Creole townhouses. Along the way, hear more about the city’s legendary voodoo practitioners such as Marie Laveau. Many New Orleans residents believe in the religion, and various ancient traditions and rituals are still observed.
From there, make your way to St Louis Cemetery No 1, where you can see Marie Laveau’s burial site and above-ground tombs. Your guide shares why above-ground burials are common in New Orleans as you meander through the labyrinth of graves to find Marie Laveau’s tomb. People come from all over the world to leave offerings, pay their respects, pray, and perform rituals around her decorated grave.
Once you leave the cemetery, head to the old train station, which is now a visitor center, to take a quick break before going to Louis Armstrong Park (formerly Congo Square). Your guide shares stories of large gatherings that took place here in the 1800s, including voodoo rituals.

The tour lasted about 1-1/2 hrs very informative. She had a strong accent which she stated in the beginning. You had to listen carefully. She added a bit of humor Marta was her name I believe.

Trying to walk down a busy sidewalk and listen to what our guide was saying was impossible. A open air vehicle or small bus would of been perfect. Long walk back by ourselvs.

Informative and fun tour of the cemetary and architecture. Our guide William had a good personality and answered all questions.

Not a lot of walking, but plenty of talking by tour guide. We had 3 children ages 13, 10 and 10 and it was not for them. Just not a great experience for kids/family.

John (Fred) Denstorff was well spoken and had in-depth knowledge of the subject matter. The two hour tour past very quickly and we would highly recommend this tour for those who are visiting New Orleans.

Paul was amazing! We couldn't have asked for a better guide. A history professor who discussed in detail everything as we walked, from the architecture, to slavery, Mardi gras, and Congo square. We were hoping the tour would be very educational, heavy on the history of NOLA- and we weren't dissapointed!

The cemetery tour was quite amazing, but everything else wasn't great at all. One of the worst tours i've ever been on.

Trevor was outstanding awesome educationl informational and entertaining we liked him a lot we enjoyed his wit and comedy as well as his serious way he gave us information concerning the way NOLA and the cemeteries were created and he took time to answer all our questions and concerns
