Known as the “Home of the Blues” and the “Birthplace of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” no trip to Memphis is complete without understanding its influence on music history, and the Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum is the perfect place to delve into this legacy.
Make your own way to the museum, located on Beale St, which is famous for its blues music landmarks as well as watershed moments in civil rights history. Famous musicians including Muddy Waters, BB King, Louis Armstrong and Memphis Minnie played the nightclubs here from the 1920s onward, creating many of the sounds and stories that made Memphis a hotbed of musical innovation.
Leave plenty of time to take in the museum’s galleries, which feature instruments, stage costumes, artifacts and photographs. Captivating exhibits take visitors through a history that journeys from the rural areas of the Mississippi Delta to the bustling streets of the city, telling the story of Memphis and its music history in the process.
Your admission ticket includes an audio guide, which features more than 5 hours of information, including 100 songs. Went during the day on a weekday - loved the review on all the different radio stations and record companies and showing the jukeboxes over time

Pretty old fashion. Not very high tech. Lots of reading. However if you love music and what to learn more about the evolution of rock n roll , Sam Phillips and Stax records , this might be interesting for you. P.S. Plenty of old juke box tunes to listen to

Steeped in history and provides an extensive range of the music history and main contributors over the years telling their story and an opportunity to listen to their music on juke boxes around the venue. A good audio guide with headphones works well that is until folks start singing along and dancing as they go. Not always a good look or sound but quite amusing. The whole place is well set out with memorabilia that I hadn't seen in other museums - Such as Elvis stuff not at Graceland. Well worth a visit. Its also a good pick up and drop off point for other tours. Handy to know before you book.

Didn't know quite what to expect but when I donned those headphones I got lost in a world of my own. Listening to the songs from the jukebox transported me back in time. For Me, Quite an emotional experiance.
