    Your cruise starts when you board a 149-passenger sightseeing boat at Long Beach's Rainbow Harbor. During the 45-minute tour around the second-busiest container port in the US, you will see the container ships and other ocean vessels from all corners of the globe that bring in cargo such as bananas from Ecuador, perfume from France and electronics from Japan.

    Your 65-foot (20-meter) double-decker boat offers plenty of outside viewing space to watch the sights pass by. Search for California sea lions and seals in their natural habitat, glide past the downtown skyline and keep an eye out for Catalina Island as you look out at the water. While you cruise, your captain provides informative commentary, such as historical trivia about the Queen Mary, a retired ocean liner built in the 1930s as a luxurious transatlantic cruise ship that's now the Queen Mary Hotel.

    Other sights include state-of-the-art ship terminals, tall gantry cranes, a quartet of offshore oil islands and the Scorpion, a Russian submarine from the Cold War era.

    My last-minute cancellation for the 40 minute harbor cruise was not charged and when I turned up unexpectedly with our 3 tickets the next day they were honored without question. That good will goes a long way with me! The cruise itself was merry and informative.

    This was a great little and short tour with an excellent view. Anyone with children would love the ride and pleasant man on the microphone explaining things. And it don't cost much.
