A day trip from Las Vegas to the Hoover Dam should be done in luxury let a driver pick you up at your Las Vegas hotel in a specially equipped Hummer H2 and drive you south to the Hoover Dam. On the way, you can watch a DVD about the dam; you’ll fill up on quick facts as you travel through Boulder City, past Lake Mead and through the entrance of the Black Canyon. When you reach the dam, you’ll be ready for the Discovery Tour.
What to see and do on the Discovery Tour:
Theater Level Displays: Wander through the photos, maps, murals and displays that document the history of the Hoover Dam. Watch the video, How the West was Won, which details the Bureau of Reclamation’s part in growing food and taming the rivers and the desert.
The Power Plant Generators: Plummet 500 feet (152.4 m) down into the Black Canyon’s walls on the dam elevators and walk through the 250-foot (76.2 m) tunnel drilled out of rock. You’ll see the Nevada wing of the power plant, which is 650 feet (198.12 m) long, and its eight generators.
The Exhibit Gallery: Head up to the Plaza Level and browse the exhibits that feature the region’s natural history and show how the dam used to be operated and how it operates today.
Don’t forget your camera in addition to the stunning views, you may get lucky and spot big horn sheep.

This was an Amazing your!! Our guide, Joe R. Did an outstanding job. He was friendly and made you feel very comfortable. Going on a Hummer tour is the way to go, there was only 4 of us on the tour, Joe R. Was very informative on the history, I Highly recommend doing your tour in a Hummer!

The name is a misnomer: It should be the "Hoover Dam Hummer TAXI". The company in NO WAY provides "ANY PART of a TOUR ." Just provides a RIDE where YOU PAY for GAS get to the Dam! Also don't be mislead about seeing "wildlife" --- NOT!
The guide "drops" you off -- gives "confusing directions" then tells you "when and where" to rendevous with them. Do not EXPECT any "CATERED SERVICE" cause there is NONE! The DAM Security / staff are completely in charge as they "coral you around Power Plant like cattle!" In addition, the guide was LATE picking us up which in turn ATE AWAY at time we could have spent actually "WALKING ON THE dam DAM! " --- which is REALLY the BEST PART of the "so-called" TOUR !
One could probably save money by renting a car and just driving themselves --- basically the SAME SERVICE you get from THIS TOUR! -
We enjoyed our trip with Randy from Big Horn tours, great information. NOT informed prior to pick up of very limited access into the turbine hall due to refurbishment taking place and lifts out of use, there wasn't enough time in the tour to allow for the queues to the lower levels. The earlier morning tours did have the access to the lifts and got the full access.

The trip did not get off to the best start as we were told the lifts at Hoover Dam were not working and we could not go inside which was very disappointing. Apart from that we had a great trip and enjoyed the experience. Our tour guide - Randy was an absolute wealth of knowledge on the Hoover Dam , Las Vegas, Boulder and the Mojave desert. He was a really friendly guy , made every feel at ease and made the trip memorable. It didn't take long to get to the Dam and we had plenty of time to explore and take photos. On the way back we stopped in Boulder City and saw the wild Big Horn goats. The ride in the Hummer was great and a very comfortable way to tour. I'd definitely recommend Big Horn Hummer Tours and this trip.

Excellent tour and our guide Scott was awesome. This tour is highly recommended. Scott had answers to all our questions. He provided us with "insider" information on getting into the tour quickly.

Really wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was wonderful.. Our guide Sean was very knowledgeable and very professional!! It was just the three of us which made it very nice and personal. I would highly recommend the tour group without any hesitation. Again our guide Sean was fabulous!

Our tour was the first tour to happen under the schedule to accommodate the elevator replacement. Brett was a great guide and even went on the tour down into the turbine room so he could let his company know of the changes taking place. What a great, relaxing way to tour the site. Brett picked us up in the Hummer, just the 2 of us on the tour, was very informative with details of the area, Boulder City, and the Dam construction, and ended the site visit with a walk on the new bridge for an unbelievable view of the dam. Avoid the group tours, this is the way you want to see Hoover Dam

My husband I booked the 4 hour Hummer Hoover Dam tour. Thomas Thomas , the Hummer operator/tour guide was very informative about Las Vegas and the Dam. Fun time . I would hire Big Horn tours again

This is the way you are supposed to be treated! It was awesome being picked up in a Hummer. Our tour guide Sean was very informative and a pleasure to be around. I highly recommend taking this tour. You will not be disappointed.
