In Lihue, the island’s capital, visit the scenic lookout at Menehune Fishpond (Alekoko), an unbelievable engineering achievement along the Huleia River that’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Just west of Lihue, stop at Kilohana Plantation for a stroll through the lush gardens of this working farm, which features one of Hawaii’s oldest railways and some of the finest examples of 20th-century plantation-style architecture in the US.Drive through the picture-perfect Tunnel of Trees, a majestic stretch of Highway 520 lined with a tall, dense corridor of eucalyptus trees. Arriving in Old Koloa Town, your guide will explain how this is where Hawaii’s sugar cane industry came to life. Admire the Western-style buildings and plantation houses that have been converted to shops and restaurants, and hop out to soak up the slow-paced atmosphere.On the island's southern tip is Poipu, where you’ll visit Spouting Horn blowhole, a popular natural attraction and one of the most photographed locations on Kauai. Witness the Pacific water surging through an ancient lava tube and blasting up to 50 feet (15 meters) in the air! Spend 10-15 minutes taking photos and browsing the nearby market. From December to May, you may even spot some whales!Continue to Hanapepe to admire the slew of art galleries, boutiques and cafes, and hop out to take a walk along the Hanapepe Swinging Bridge. Though Hanapepe glows with old-town, off-the-grid charm, you’ll learn some interesting pop culture facts about this coastal hub: The plantation-style houses were used as a model for Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, and nearby Hanapepe Valley was a filming location for Jurassic Park.Stop at the Kauai Kookie Factory to enjoy some free samples of yummy treats such as macadamia nuts, Kona coffee cookies and mouthwatering cinnamon toast. Once you've had your fill, continue your journey to Waimea along the Waimea River. Stop at the Captain Cook Landing Site, where European explorer Captain James Cook spotted the Hawaiian Islands in 1778, and pass Russian Fort Elizabeth, a National Historic Landmark.Arrive finally at Waimea Canyon, the undisputed highlight of your tour. Located in Koke’e State Park, this majestic canyon is known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, with equally stunning sights. Our guide was very knowledgeable and personable. He went out of his way to make is a great day. He showed us some wild fruit that most other people would not have had the chance to sample. He steered us away from bad deals. We confirmed that later in our trip.
We strongly recommend this tour.

This was a rip off! What was suppose to be a 10 hour trip on a mini-bus, turned out to be 4 hours in a car with only 3 people plus the drive. We didn't get to stop and do some of the things that were listed on the itinerary and only go to spend 10 to 15 minutes at the places we did visit. I was very disappointed that we didn't even get to spend a lot of time at Waimea Canyon (we spent maybe 20 minutes here). For the money that we paid for this tour, it was not worth it! Very unhappy.

Although the tour wasn't as long as promised and we didn't get to explore all the places as described, we enjoyed the tour. Our driver, Tina, did a great job of patiently answering our questions, and made us feel that we better understood the native's attitudes, traditions and way of life. We saw much of the beautiful island (bring your camera), and I would recommend you take this tour early in your visit, planning to return to the places you would like to explore further. You really need no other excursions, because this takes you all over, and gives you great ideas of places you can visit on your own-- for free.

This tour was a complete waste of hard earned money. The tour was supposed to last from 7.45am to 5.00pm. Our tour lasted from 7.45am to 12.30pm. We were expecting a tour bus with driver complete with identification. What we got was a bus and a driver, who at no time identified himself or did he wear identification. We were supposed to stop at Kilohana and stroll the Plantation Grounds. Given a complete miss as was Old Koloa Town. We were also not afforded the opportunity to walk on the Hanapepe swing bridge. A no host lunch - no way. Mr X (our unknown driver) merely asked if any of us wanted lunch. No stopping at a local restaurant for a no host lunch - no stopping for lunch at all - just dropped back at our hotel. It was a total waste of time and a big disappointment. To think we flew from all the way to Hawaii from Australia, looking forward to the three tours we had booked and this one I would not recommend to anybody.

I can only confirm what the other travelers wrote. The tour was much shorter than advertised, a lot of drive-by's but no stopping. I'm not someone who needs to roam around for hours on such tours but you get much nicer pictures when you're able to get out of the car rather than just taking one while driving by. Also the guide (he never gave me his name) didn't seem too enthusiastic. But he was polite and told some interesting facts. Overall I was a little disappointed with this tour as I felt it could have been much more but the places I did see were stunning, which made it an enjoyable experience.

OK tour. Last from 8 am until 2:30 pm, far short of the advertised 10 hours. Driver was interesting, but expressed lots of personal opinions which at first was interesting, but then got distracting. Selection of local lunch places was not the greatest. Overall, a "C". Would not recommend to others. Tours are good and we have done many. This was not anywhere near one of the better ones.

We were disappointed with the length of our tour and the driver drove while talking on the phone! The site states that it is 10 hours and we were less than 7! We did not stop in the old town we just drove through and he said here it is. We did not go to the plantation. Won't recommend!
